Everything is not money and not everyone cares for money. My ex made 10 times less money than I did. I never cared, I loved him crazy.

This January-March I dated a 28 year old guy. He was very successful and was quite rich, he wanted to get married, and he wasn’t rushing me, he told me he would give me as much time as I wanted, just he wanted me to know that he was dating me with the wish to get married in the end,

the first time he told me he loved me - we were sitting in his brand new Ferrari.

He looked nice as well and all in all, I know lots of girls would be after him.

But it just didn’t click with me, I thought If I kept dating him I would lead him on as I couldn’t give him my heart, because I wasn’t ready for a relationship after the heartbreak I experienced with my ex.

I broke up with him.

Last time I’ve heard of him, many girls were chasing him.

I don’t mind that. I am happy for him. I hope he finds what he is looking for.

But his money didn’t help him get my heart.

Money doesn’t help you get anyone worth having.

And if it helps you get someone, that “someone” is just a prostitute, selling his/her heart for money and that someone is not the woman/man you will be happy having.

It has happened to me too, this June, I dated a man, who complained to me the very first date. He was interested in my financial situation and I could tell easily that he is used to having women take care of him because he’s very handsome.

I never met him 2nd time, I wouldn’t want anyone to choose me just because I have more than they have.

I hate that the capitalist system is so far spread, and that it's empowered the wrong sorts of people to do the wrong sort of things.

But eh. Currency or trade of some sort is necessary in our current world.

We just need a more equitable system to distribute it.

To be honest if you really think about it. What’s the point in money? To create classes. There actually is no point but to create suffering and keep the rich privileged. That’s it, we could abolish money like how we did with cd’s cassette tapes and all other old tech. But that will never happen because powerful people won’t let that slide.

Did you know at the start of the discovery of creating electricity uses there was a possibility that everyone in the world would be able have free electricity and there would be no such thing as paying the electric bill, but guess what certain powerful people put a stop to that. Yes, when i was younger there was a lot more open space and there were a lot of activities' you could do that did not cost anything. Girls were not obsessed with how much money you had, You could hitchhike to get nyplace you wanted to go. You could make a decent living without a college degree. It seemed that money was just a tool that you used to buy goods and services and not an end to itself. Shopping was not a recreational activity, it was buying necessitates in fact stores were closed on Sundays and holidays. Now everything is about money. .

You don't need money your whole life. Build a cheap house, live off the grid, be self sufficient and produce enough goods that you can sell/trade them for the things you don't have. You want someone else's labor to result in goods and services for you, then you have to pay for it.

@love_conquers_lust Being boring has nothing to do with being rich or poor, and usually being boring is what will keep you poor if you are already poor. And for the most part every wealthy person I know lives plenty while the poor people are the ones surviving. My aunt makes 500k a year as a single woman and takes plenty and I mean PLENTY of trips and enjoys herself quite a bit.

You ever notice how people who struggle have the most interesting stories to tell? While people who live sheltered lives don’t have those same trials by fire to share?

Surviving while rich is a figurative and literal cakewalk. Surviving while poor is a trial. The challenge of being rich is dealing with the boredom. You’re surrounded by it. It rubs off on you. That’s why your aunt takes the trips she does. She doesn’t have to struggle.

I implied you weren't poor, but didn’t assert it. Being a Mexican immigrant doesn’t by default make you poor. I don’t even know why you brought that up outside of making a racist claim. If your household income was below $10,000-$25,000 up to a family of 4 scaling linearly, you were below the US poverty line. Those numbers are approximate and varies by year. In Mexico, those numbers are about half because of exchange rates and PPP. I meet that criteria now. I don’t know about you. But I’ve been well above it, too. I have perspective.

This a key nuance. It’s why they say money can’t buy happiness. Which is what your aunt is doing.
