Ronald McDonald has become one of the most recognisable fictional characters of all time. Official company statements actually claim he's second only to Santa Claus in terms of recognition. He's become pretty much the most iconic mascot in the history of fast food restaurants using mascots. However most of you guys have likely noticed the iconic mascot has been absent from the industry and from the spotlight over the last few years. What happened to him. Did McDonalds stop using him

2004 ‧ Documentary. It's only this year that grimus and his meme shake and now the hamburglar recently I've only seen once.

My guess there was a crackdown on childhood marketing about health food and McDonald's jump ship keeping the kids meal but zero advertising for kids and going modernest design. Now that these are classic characters are more or less not intended marked towards children but nostalgic adults they will push more into the future.
