Are you scared to die?

This is more for the people that live in countries where violence is really common. I live in a small town in Belgium so I'm not really scared here except to get kidnapped or something but even that doesn't happen here often.

My boyfriend wants to move to the US with me when he finally works fulltime but I'm scared..

So my question is : Are you guys aware and scared of the shootings, murderers,? Or doesn't it happen as often as it may seem?

I guess I wonder how the people in the US actually feel about it.

The question at face value nope.
The question your really asking but didn't put it in the question, depends where. Because America is such area specific place, there is cities where yeah you never want to be in the south part or east or west etc.
It's all due to culture and race really. Like my friend I am staying with told me a place named Cairo In IL near here is a bad area for white people. Mean while the place I am in is bad for black people. And that's due to a lot of racial tension people are just trying to protect themselves but it creates these toxic places.
There is also another place were the KKK literally have a base and will shoot people who may cross the land. But of course unless you actually do that, you aren't going to be shot by one.
Mostly the key is just knowing where not to go, if you just stick to yourself you should be fine.

Unlike England which I live in were this is not really a thing. In England you have worser area's but it's worse just in general thanks to druggies, but honestly druggies tend to stick to themselves and whether you are black or white you be fine living or going through that place.
Culture is not really a reason anyone gets killed for in England. But america yeah it's a big part of it. Then of course you have the random nuts with guns but they tend to target somewhere, so unless your in a school or some other place for shootings you will be okay.

Personally I would never live in America due to this whole weight on race and culture just makes no sense to me and endangers good people for no reason. I haven't seen a single non-white person here and that to me is just odd. And I would imagine sexism is much worse though I haven't see that.
America is so massive though I am sure it highly depends where one is based but I don't know feels like these issues are more than just one area.

It crosses my mind at times, but I realize I have no control over it , if it’s going to happen it’s going to happen. I choose to believe in God and Heaven so I am not really scared to die , i believe my life will continue in Heaven , whether I am right or wrong it doesn’t matter , I just choose to live my life knowing I am going to Heaven over just assuming things are completely over. I just don’t want to die yet , I would like to experience more things before my time is up that’s all and spend as much time with my loved ones as I can, and hopefully find true love before that happens.

@exitseven growing up was rough, it has gotten worse of course over time. and i agree with that, you have people who transplanted there, not born or grew up there who keep electing the same people. they have no clue what the real issues are or have been. i now live rural so was hard to leave but between the overly liberal loons and the violence was a no brainer

Why are you scare to move to the US. Trust me it's nothing like the way they portray us on TV. I lived in New York City my whole life and I've never been a victim to a crime and I grew up in one of the roughest neighborhoods. So don't believe everything you hear. Just think about it. If it's as bad as they say it is why is everybody breaking the necks to get here

Yeah, the media always blows everything out of proportion and highlights all the drama because that’s what gets views.

I lived in the United States on the west coast pretty much all my life 0-30, and things have been pretty mellow for the most part.

The United States is huge though, and the safety of an area can differ drastically from another area.

There are definitely some high-crime neighborhoods, but there are also sooo many safer neighborhoods where barely anything happens.

For example: Corvallis, Oregon. That’s the college town I used to live in during my time at Oregon State University. The crime rate there is almost half the national median. Outside of school, it’s just a small town with like dairy cows and stuff. My friend joking called it ‘cow town’ 😂 So, yeah. Location makes a huge difference in terms of how safe you’ll be.

So, it’ll be good to do research on the unique area you plan to move to. 🙂

The problem seems to be overblown, or at least in my area in California, it is not a thing I think or am concerned about. I would not go to South/Central LA at night, for the reasons you cite, but for here in Orange County. I have no fears like that.

I live in the U. S. & I don't think I'm afraid to die. I think I'm just afraid of certain types of pain. For instance, if someone locked me in a store & let out a gas to permanently put me to sleep, I'd be chillin. But if someone plans on burning me alive in that store then that's a whole different ending to my story! And I will take great offence to that & any other type of brutal ending a human has planned for me.

As for murders happening a lot. Yeah, they do happen a lot in the United States. But if we mind our own business & don't get involved with criminals, we're usually good. Usually. But still gotta drop low if you hear gunshots cause mofos cannot aim for the life of them.

Shootings in the U. S. are overplayed on the news. 40% of them are suicides, half of them are gang violence. If you're in the big cities it's an issue in some places buy for the most part you learn where to go and where not to. There are guns all over where I live and nobody's shooting up anybody.

If you go to the cites, especially the ones run by democrats can be dangerous. I live in one of these cities and a year ago I made the difficult decision to by guns for protection. I feel more secure in my home with a handgun and a shotgun.

I have a concealed carry permit but I usually do not take my gun with me. I try to stay out of the inner city anyway. Maybe once or twice a year going to a concert or sporting event.

First off, no I'm not afraid of being shot because I'm smart enough to not live in, or visit high crime areas.

But as far as dying goes. I'm not fearless. Yes I fear death in the sense that it's a unknown. But I trust God is a loving God. I trust that God is just. And so I do not worry about it.

There are even stages of dying, it's been so long since I learned them that I don't remember all of them.
You can look it up, but I think they are denial, anger, bargaining, and acceptance.

Violence is getting worse specifically in Democrat-run cities, as they're trying to be lenient on crime. It's not a thing anywhere else. And violent crime still is a very uncommon thing. But our news pushes it a lot because like you have experienced, it incites an emotional reaction.

Depends where you live. The highly densely populated cities are hell w parking etc. And remember in some American cities you HAVE to own a car. Walking which is inherently natural is not efficient. Which sucks

I don't drink alcohol 😅 my dad has all the beer for himself! And a small town here is actually not that different from a city. It's just smaller but it still has a lot of shops, grocery stores and stuff.
