Do you agree that Charity Shops are becoming increasingly important in our society during these difficult times?

When did you last visit one and were you donating buying or just browsing

Only last week I denoted two extremely large bags of clothes and a couple of pairs of shoes to our small cancer charity shop in the village.

I must confess in not leaving empty handed as I purchased two lovely jigsaw puzzles (winter entertainment!) for the princely sum of £8 (UK Stirling).

I visit and donate quite often and I agree with that they're increasingly important. I however hate to see that some charity shops are taking advantage of the situation and increasing prices way to much. Aiming for high profits above helping.

I totally agree. The worker are volunteers and the stocks donated. But the CEOs want an exorbitant wage it's just obscene

Goodwill stores usually have very reasonably prices items.

@YesterdaysChild yes, usually they do. Most of them even. But some take advantage of being the only one in a big area and mark their prices up so much that they're only cheaper than regular shops by a relatively small margin. And it's a pity they exist.

But that also remember is that Goodwill hires people with many varied issues, or partially disabled. So they are helping their community and those who want to work but can't find any other job to accommodate them. I might see them raise some prices in ritzy neighborhoods, but for the most part, since they are a trusted chain, they don't try and gouge anyone. Also, people have found some valuable items at Goodwill.

I've bought silver gold, silk ties, my leather jacket, my skinbekladnad, games galore, a Nintendo Wii and plenty more
