Gypsy Rose Blanchard is set to be released from prison after serving 7 years (85% of her sentence) what do you think?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was sentenced to prison in 2016 for 10 years for her role in the murder of her mother Claudine "Dee Dee" Blanchard.

Gypsy Rose was a victim of Munchausen by proxy at the hand of her mother.

She is set to be released on the 28th of December.

I confess i haven't heard of this one so ill look her up and get back to you.

From the outset though this might be one of those situations where most people won't be sad or at least not care much that she murdered her mom. I've seen a few examples of people with that Munchausen by proxy thing and... its ain't good. not one bit.

It doesn't of course excuse or legitimize murder but... its kinda like a vigilante who kills a person who touched their kid wrong... i think most people would probably get why they did what they had to do.

Well i sympathize with Gypsy and glad she's finally able to get out. i was surprised that nicholas guy got life without parole. i think thats a bit harsh. he did kill but i feel like he was a bit manipulated into doing it. Maybe 25 years to life instead would have been more sufficient.

Anyways her mom was terrible and basically Gypsy was already a prisoner during her whole childhood until she could finally free herself of her captor.

All around a very fucked up situation.

@Still-alive I understand why he got life without parole. He wasn’t related to either or and I would actually deem him dangerous due to actually executing a murder where the problem actually wasn’t his problem at all. Although he was dating her, it definitely seems like he plotted the murder because he wanted to kill someone , not because he held any feelings towards what her mom did to her.

@kylee2437 i dunno i still think 25 to life would have been more fair. im not saying no prison time or he's not guilty or anything. just saying i feel its too harsh a sentence for this.

@Still-alive I think the point is, is he had a mind where if he didn’t kill her mom, he probably would’ve killed someone else eventually. I watched the documentary a while back , and although those are just outlines of who the actual person is, he seemed a bit off his rocker

Good for her, she was getting abused and that was her only way out. I’m sure prison felt more free than her childhood was. Hopefully she has gotten some mental help, and hopefully she puts out her own book one day. It would be amazing to see a book written from her perspective

If this is a bid for sympathy for her in the absence of the facts of the case, then it is impossible to come to any conclusions at all or to extend any sympathy at all without knowing more.

I watched a documentary on it. basically this girl was being used by her mom with Munchausen syndrome by proxy, if you are unfamiliar with that its a mental disorder that causes the person to engage in desperate and often damaging attention seeking behavior. like for instance the mom would make her daughter get into a wheel chair even when she could freely walk around or give her a feeding tube even when she can still eat normally. its all in an effort to make the mom seem like the best mom ever and also warrant sympathy from other people around her. its pretty fucked up.

anyways the daughter cooked up this scheme to get this guy to kill her and then she got 10 years and is getting out this December while the guy got life in prison without parole. A lot of people are sympathizing with the daughter because she was basically her moms prisoner and play thing.

@Still-alive a lot of these munchausen by proxies will poison their kids so they stay sick just so they can get attention. There is truly no punishment too cruel for these people.
