Depends what you mean by "poking our nose in Israel's business". The US does a lot of joint military R&D with Israel and the two countries share a lot of intelligence with each other. Furthermore, a significant amount of military supplies in Israel have apparently been diverted to Ukraine (at the behest of the Biden Administration). Isael has been invaded by terrorists, so we can't just wash our hands of them.

Like it or not, the enemies of Israel are also the enemies of the US and would be even if we were neutral in the current conflict.

Well, the real entangling alliances would be in Europe and Asia, not the Middle East. But sooner or later, we'd be fighting Israel's enemies on our own. Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, the Taliban and the rest would kill us as fast as they would kill any Israeli.

Even though some US citizens have been killed or taken hostage, US assistance to Israel has been limited to sharing intelligence and re-supplying equipment to Israel (and note that a lot of equipment may have been sent from israel to Ukraine).
