The US always has a larger policy. HAMAS is likely being run by the CIA & MOSAAD. So they knew what HAMAS & Hezbollah were planning on October 7th and just let it happen. This is something the us often does historically to be given justification to go to war and to have complete support for war. A few examples of this were

: he sinking USS maine 1998 which started the spainish American War. The sinking resulted in the US gaining the Philippines and islands in the Caribbean ending Spainish influence and interests there.

: Germany sinking US merchant ships in WW1 supplying its enemies in Britain & France. The US government knew this would happen but needed a reason to enter WW1 so Britain & France would repay its war loans to them. The war was largely over by the time the US arrived in sufficient numbers to matter but the US emerged as the richest most powerful country in the world with a navy on par with Britain and a demonstration of how fast the us could militarise and were largely able to weird massive diplomatic power over most world countries.

: Pearl Harbour Dec 5th 1941. The Japanese were a rival intrest to us interests in the Pacific. If they'd been successful in taking China they'd be massively wealthy and powerful. So to prevent that the US government began sanctioning it's oil imports and supplying the Chinese with the latest us military equipment knowing the Japanese would be forced to attack. Japan was also part of the AXIS and the us wanted to get into the war in Europe and north Africa before the British and Soviets crumbled which if either were defeated would have given the AXIS the resources such as oil to grow their economies and continue fighting.

:1964 bay Gulf of Tonkin incident. This was the US trying to get north Vietnam to attack its ships to start a war. In the end the us deployed troops in Vietnam in significant numbers a few months later and fought a war for 5 or 6 years but unlike previously failed to gain support at home. The result was delaying the communist takeover of the south for 10 years but the slowing down of the spread of communism by tying up resources of the Soviet Union and China supplying them, taking a look at their military technology and testing us military technology.

: 1983 Grenada intervention. On the pretext of rescuing 500 us citizens. Really about throwing out a Marxist regime.

: 1991 Gulf War. Kuwait was under cutting Iraq oil profits and slant drilling into Iraqi territory. The Iraqis checked with the us before invading Kuwait and the us said it would interfere. Sadam invaded and the US had justification for it's first real war since Vietnam 25 years previously and a show of US allies fighting together. The result was a show to the rest of the world how far us technology was ahead of anyone else as shown by how easily one of the largest militaries in the world was easily swatted to a point they'd never recover with minimal casualties UN casualties. The us got bases in the middle east (though this would directly lead to 9/11 and the war on terror), this is an old Roman strategy and it enchanced us influence in the middle east

: 9/11. The CIA & FBI tracked the bombers and knew what they were planning they just allowed it to happen. The result was the invasion of Afghanistan and 20 year occupation, trillions spent on the US military industrial complex.

: 2003 invasion of Iraq. Basically the government and media lied to us about WMDs to drum up support for the invasion of Iraq and counting on the fact that we were already at war in Afghanistan although that war was turning out to be too small and mostly won early in 2002. The result was huge amounts spent on the arms industry. Large deployment of the us military. Massive contracts for us companies for security and the rebuilding of Iraq paid for by selling Iraqi oil to China. US has a base closer to Iran and more influence in the middle east.

:2011 Arab Spring. This was set up by the US to take out of the equation Arab states that traditionally looked to Russia as their big brother.
In Syria there was a real attempt to whoo Assad to the US side with even articles right b4 the Arab spring doing exposes about how moderate Syria is and featuring Assad's wife. The US wanted to build a gas/oil pipeline through syria linking Qatar to Europe. This would be lucrative and would undercut Russian oil/gas profits which would hamper the modernisation of the Russian military. So an attempted regime change drives Syria into a civil war and basically destroyed.
Libya. Obama was making friends with Gaddafi. Next thing you know he gets overthrown and Libya is thrown into complete chaos. Gaddafi orchestrated the Lockerbie bombing, that was never going to be forgiven. Gaddafi signed hix own death with that, just like Osama bin Laden did. It's the same with Israel and Hamas, Hezbollah and Iranian leaders.
Iraq. The Iraqis during the Arab spring had been trying to get the US to leave and the country was largely at peace. Next thing the Iraqis know the rebel groups the US had been arming& training in Syria took a right turn and invaded Iraq calling themselves ISIS. All of a sudden the Iraqis wanted the US to stay and continue supporting them which was good news for us companies who had exclusively got the contracts to rebuild and act as security contractors.
Egypt. The Egyptians had long been a Russian ally and enemy if Israel. They also controlled the suez canal. The Arab spring got rid of the old government and installed a us/Israel friendly government. The Egyptians now buy us made military equipment over Russian equipment like they used to.

Now about Iran. The US has always wanted justification to get into Iran. This would give them access to Iranian oil/gas but also access to central Asia. Central Asia has Russia to the north, China to the east, Afghanistan to the south and is going to be hugely rich in the next few decades as it sits on huge amounts of gas, oil and other natural resources but it's infrastructure and economy is small. Getting access to central Asia would be very lucrative, Afghanistan didn't work out though a deal with the taliban may have been made.
