How much do you give to beggars?

Usually nothing. Sometimes I will offer food if I have it, but I've found that more than half the time, beggars will refuse food.

I used to give money, and even the clothes I was wearing, but actually my experiences have changed my perspective. I gave a beggar my pizza once. A delicious 3 slices in a box that I was very much looking forward to. Although he specifically said he was hungry, he was not appreciative at all and said he wanted money for "something heartier". It was obvious he didn't want food and wasn't hungry. When I walked away, I saw him throw my pizza into the street.

I also had two young men ask me for my chinese leftovers, but this was a few years after the above incident. I was looking forward to eating my leftovers and I said no. They then went from smiling and polite to abusive and rude.

I also volunteer at places that help people with food and essentials. They get better food than I do. I watched one person get their free supplies, then put them into a brand new Honda Civic, value around $28K. I drove my $4K used truck to go volunteer at this place. So I'm not too worried about people suffering because I didn't give them my earnings.

Now, I rarely support them. Not all are the same, but whatever they are doing, it's obviously not working out. Or it is? If it's sustainable, they don't need me to support them. If it's not sustainable, then they will change what they are doing.

Well, I'm not rich so I don't prefer to just give away money to anyone if I don't feel like it's a valuable transaction.

Nothing. I don't want to speak for other countries but in mine all beggars need alcohol or drugs, they don't need food. I don't have the desire to finance their addictions.

Nothing. Had a bad experience in the block of flats I used to live in with homeless coming into building and leaving a mess. I won't support any homeless
