    not always no...

    for example

    2 + 3 equals 1 + 4

    2 + 3 equals 8 - 3

    2 + 3 equals 3 + 2

      Evelyn is right. 1 + 4, 8 - 3, 3 + 2, and 5 are all equal. Not all identical (of which the sign is ≡), but equal.

      @HippieVeganJewslim yes, they are all equal... but that wasn't the question

      the question is about the equation... the question is if...

      2+3 as an equation, will ALWAYS be completed as 2+3=5 and not... that is not the only way in which the question will be valid

      there are infinite ways to complete it... not only equal to five every single time

      1 + 4 = 2 + 3 is a valid equation. 1 + 4 ≡ 2 + 3 is no valid indeticalness. 2 + 3 is no equation (as there’s no = symbol), but rather an expression.

      @HippieVeganJewslim the question is not about validation, but absolutes...

      2 + 3 is not always equal to five... period

      Then the question didn’t give us the right number. However, 2 + 3 ≠ 5 is invalid.

    2+3 is just 2+3 but if you write 2+3= 5 would be the answer.

      Not in the quaternary or quinary number system. 2 + 3 = 11, or 10, respectively.

      There are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand the binary system and those who don’t!

    In the quaternary (base 4) number system, the numbers go 1, 2, 3, 10, so 2 + 3 = 11. 10 is the number of legs a common cat has.
    In the quinary (base 5) number system, the numbers go 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, so 2 + 3 = 10. 10 is the number of fingers of one common human hand.

    Those were two number systems where there is no number 5.

    If we round up or down…

    2.4 = 2

    3.4 = 3

    2.4 + 3.4 = 5.8 = 6

      If 2 is assumed to be 20: 2 + 3 = 20 + 3 = 23
