Why is the US so protective of Israel? Why are the United States and Israel such good friends, even though they have nothing in common?

No, in this case, you're defending yourself- and given that they're defending themselves against terrorism, fighting it is EXACTLY what they're doing. Palestinians complaining about Israel killing innocents is beyond laughable; it's not like unguided rockets attacks and suicide bombers are discriminating in who they kill.

Kill enough of another group of people, and they WILL strike back- and the fact that they're FAR less incompetent than you are at killing doesn't affect the moral value of them, or you, doing it. Palestine's reaping what it sowed. Hopefully, they'll finally learn from this. If not, well, Israel's not just richer, more numerous, and better at killing, it's a nuclear power. There's really only one way this can end.
