That’s interesting.

I looked at the funds allocation and they are mostly used on spendings, not on personal development or financial investment of any kind. Which is quite understandable, given their situation.
Spending money is easy, regardless of what’s someone’s income or “miracle money”, 5$ and 500 000$ don’t make much difference in the hands of a person who can only spend, rather than earn/invest/and budget, it’s only a matter of time till they get back to their old life.

So, I think instead of miracle money, would be better to give them “Miracle Makeover”

Which means, instead of gifting money, fund their temporary shelter/food and most importantly professional training in the areas that they are interested in and then help them find the jobs related to the professional trainings they have undergone, that way, these people will feel useful and will be able to contribute to the society, which I think is very important for health and happiness of a person. They’ll also learn how to be self-sufficient.

After all, we slowly start deteriorating after we lose our function in society and we feel no longer needed. If we give them a place where we need them, they’ll slowly get back on their feet and back to find their place again.

Nobody likes being at the mercy of someone’s kindness, it would be the better help to equip them with necessary skills to live better, get the hold of their lives and contribute to the society.

There are people who have jobs and cannot afford to fix their cars or get kids things for Christmas. Many live paycheck to paycheck and are only one paycheck away from being homeless. Instead of giving money to every country in the world to finance their wars, how about us helping our own? The government only want our money to spend, they don't give shit about us or what we want. FFS! They can't even take care of our Vets because the VA is a joke. A lot of these people die before they get help from the VA.

That's very interesting. It's the assumption most have and reason they won't give $ to people, only food if anything. I suspect most just made bad decisions in life, don't undersatnd how to manage or budget, or lack social/physical/emotional support in family. And so, life is hard. Mental deterioration (war, trauma, family issues, breakups) send many out of work to the street over time.

I wonder how many end up going towards drugs/alcohol as they are continually rejected.

California is a Huge Democratic State and the cost of living there is extreme and very true people can hardly live paycheck to paycheck. I found out these programs that the Democrats support are for Middle Class people for most, but the cost of them are extreme, and the cost is more than what the people can afford. Many people are forced to leave California and move to a lower cost of living State.

That's a hard question because you can be homeless and not poor and vice versa. The housing market gets worse every year, especially here in NYC. I was in the shelter for a year working for the government. I make $2000/mo and I'm still well below the poverty level. Im just great at navigating... not taking advantage of... the system. I know it's cheaper to house someone than to pay for their shelter stay and I live in a 3br house on the dime of NYC. People have been on the waitlist for housing and section 8 for an average of 15+ years. I got section 8 seven months after I applied. I just say al that to say homeless and poor cannot be used interchangeably. One doesn't constitute the other

We moved out of california because of the crime, unemployment, high taxes, cost of living, property taxes, high rents and high mortgages.

California has many "social programmes" that are supposed to help but really it's a way of justifying taxing the shit out of ordinary working people. That $750 a month has to come out of somewhere and probably represents about $1000-$2000 before a penny ever reaches a homeless person and the high taxes on buisnesses and property is why these people are without employment and homeless in the first place. Its the wealthy liberal elite as they feast on the labor of the ordinary taxpayer throwing a few welfare scraps from their table.

I can show you a dozen people just on my way home from work that I guarantee would spend the money on booze and drugs. that being said, years ago I was living at the so called poverty line for a family of four. A 50 dollar Book of food stamps would have prevented us from eating out of the closet or trying to get an invite to dinner from one of our parents. I was turned down by a clerk that just gave me a blank stare and a bunch of excuses. The truth was that I did not fit the right profile. So thanks for nothing. My taxes are high enough.

People on the streets take drink/drugs because it puts their mind in a different place away from the harsh reality of their shit existence, it's a method of coping, it's easier to get through the night smashed out of your mind.
