This is like seeing somebody murder somebody and broad daylight on TV and then brag about it, and subsequently insisting that he Is an innocent man until proven guilty. Of course this is technically correct in our system, but as a practical matter since there were literally thousands of witnesses to everything Trump has said and done that he is being accused of, the trial that will take place is just a formality.

The law in America (pre Biden, apparently) is that everyone is entitled to a fair trial and people are innocent until proven guilty. It is up to the judicial system to build a case. If there is no evidence there is not much of a case to go forward. Somebody that commits murder in broad daylight may have witnesses and video evidence and possibly more. If the grand jury thinks there is enough to hold a trial then the case goes forward.
Somehow democrats have skipped right over this inconvenient fact and kicked trump off the ballot despite no evidence, no trial and no conviction.

Except the Colorado case was civil. There is a lower burden of proof for a civil case and the court found it was enough to remove him from the ballot. It doesn't even need anyone to testify.

There doesn't have to be any trial or any due process to get somebody off the ballot. The court's holding has been that that provision in the Constitution operates automatically and does not require any particular fact finding.

You may not like this and I don't quite like it either, but that's the way the constitution is written.

The constitution just mentions a insurrection. It looks to me like it is expected that there was some kind of due process like a trial and conviction before it even gets to the 14th amendment.

Since we live in a nation of laws it should b e expected that there has been due process in the form of a trial and a conviction. None of this happenewsef.
