Do you feel favorable toward Trump because you think he supports the underdog?

I am trying to understand the attraction that Trump seems to have for many people. I was wondering this evening whether or not it's because you feel like he supports the underdog? By underdog. I am referring to those people that are victims of the economic systems in the US and in particular victims of capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system that produces a few winners and far more losers. There are obviously some people in the middle, but compared to the very wealthiest people in this society, most everybody else is poor. I think there is at least some perception that Trump supports people that are poor. Do you feel this is true and is this part of your attraction for him?

I think Trump plays to whomever will vote for him. In the 1990s he was a liberal Democrat dancing at Studio 54. He is a chameleon. And he has admitted this. He will change his stripes, values and what comes out of his mouth to suit the voters. He simply wants to be in charge because his ego is gigantic.

People support him because they see him as a winner and as more Teflon than Ronald Reagan. Doesn't matter WHAT he does, he gets away with anything and everything

I find it amusing that people think he supports American Capitalism when, at his failed Casino, he hired plasterers and others, then refused to pay them. They were also from the countries his wives were from, the Eastern Bloc. But he'd run out of money ---NOT because their work was inferior, but because he is a cheat when it suits him.

And he's been bankrupt not once or twice, but at least three times and his Daddy bailed him out. So I don't know how successful a businessman he's ever been! He's made money selling his name on Trump Towers all over the world, and at Mar-a-Lago, and his hotel in Washington, D. C. But, he's also inflated the values of his properties to get further loans and deals so he can make more money.

THIS is what people think is great about him! He's gamed the system and gotten away with it! And, in a sense, this IS great.

He's a workfare king! I say workfare, though there is no such entity, but the ability to get multimillion and billion dollar deals through Deutsche Bank and other giant lending organizations to expand your empire is corporate welfare. Especially if you're falsifying your net worth to do it.

So, he's a pirate! A drug lord, with the drug being money! He's gotten away with murder and the killing was he's made money off these deals. Loads of it.

And, incorrectly, people think this translates into being a government servant. It does not. Businessmen are in it for the money. A few, none of whom I can name right now, but certainly not Musk, Zuckerberg or Mr. Amazon, are in it for the notoriety and the cheddar. They are big, swinging dicks. And Trump is one of the biggest.

He is not a government servant, which is the difference between him and a longtime legislator like Biden. No one who wants to serve the government is only looking for the bottom line. This is why our postal service has become so lax, because the man in charge is a Trump appointee instructed to privatize it and dismantle it! The postal service is not supposed to make money. It is a service and has always been and usually just breaks even.

And this is another issue that businessmen lean into. Privatizing government entities so they are moneymaking businesses. You can't make prisons moneymakers. That's a conflict of interest. Prisons should be places where people serve their time, get educations and rehabilitation. Businesses want prisoners to stay inside as long as possible because they're MAKING MORE MONEY THE LONGER PRISONERS STAY.

Governments LOSE MONEY the longer prisoners stay, and have an incentive to train, educate and parole/pardon/clear erroneous charges. Businesses make money off both the government and the inhumane keeping of prisoners longer than they need to be kept.

However, the last two paragraphs are merely examples and asides. There are some businessmen who could be government servants. I don't get that from Trump. He likes to be in charge. He likes to run things. Being president is the ultimate being-in-charge and running-things. That's what he's about. American values? He changes his values to suit the electorate. Just as a businessman chooses what business to work so he makes the most money. He wants the most votes as a means to his ends.

I'm not saying government servants cannot be the same. They CAN be. And they can be bought by special interests. But the overarching reason you go into government is to help. That is not the overarching reason people go into business.

The attraction is something needs to change. We keep putting politicians in. Which is their job I do understand that but unfortunately most of them have been corrupted by the decisions they have to make. Or are told to go in a direction they really don't want to go in and feel strongly about it and continue with it anyway. Doing that for many years will corrupt anyone. We need someone new who understands politics well understands how serious the job is and fight for everyone not just the higher and middle class if you could even say middle class. Things are going to continue to get worse if we keep doing the insane decision. The definition of insane is doing the same thing over and over thinking things will change. Well that's what our government is doing to us. And us people are allowing when we vote for these people. We really need to put our foot down and fight for what's right. That's my thoughts. I'm not even a trump fan. I just think we need change

Our political and economic systems deliberately select Sociopaths to be in power. Can you see that as being the case, or not? It is not always obvious.

Maybe. Maybe the guilt of having taken advantage of that system, and using it to bankrupt so many others who had little defence against him, has come home to roost. Maybe he now wants to work to help them, as a means to alleviate his own regret.
Now answer me this. Does he present as someone trying to make amends?

I don't think he is actually capable of experiencing guilt at all. I don't see him at this point as a person who was attempting to make amends of any sort. Others of course may disagree with this

People are Trump supporters because he supports American values. He believes in the power of capitalism. It is the engine that drives the economy. He is pro American. He works towards making America better instead of playing Santa Claus to the rest of the world. He is the candidate of common sense and his policies reflect that. The MAGA movement is the antithesis of the super wealthy and if that makes him a supporter of the underdog then so be it.
