Is it possible to live without any human contact at all?

It's call being a hermit. Certainly possible. Don't think it would be mentally healthy for long periods of time. Don't think it would be enjoyable either.

Studies have been done with astronauts about what human interactive deprivation does to mental health. Check out your library and read some books. Bet there are theses on it.

Social interaction keeps you from going nuts. I worked a warehouse fire watch/security job where I have spent 12 hours a night alone for 2 weeks in a giant warehouse and 2 connected office buildings. Not total isolation but it's enough to start fucking with your head. You have to distract yourself from yourself if that makes any sense. Putting on music with people singing or rapping, listening to the news or watching tv tricks your mind and makes you feel less alone.

In fact, one of the worst legal tortures is solitary confinement.

Probably not at all. I've lived the past couple years with very limited human contact. But I think all humans have to have at least some contact.
