It is possible with improvements in technology, medicine AI that we preserve youth live longer and will no longer need to work because machines will take all the jobs.

I saw this video examining these questions today and explaining the lifestyles people may choose.

Reminds me a bit of fully-automated luxury communism. I suspect all my interests would shift towards the subjective: art, music, literature, romance, adventure. Activities and interests where our human flaws actually become a source of interest.

I don't think gerontocracy would be a risk since if we experienced this degree of automation, I see no reason why we wouldn't find superior leaders in AI as well. Instead I think we would be as children to the AI, never having to grow up or take on any responsibilities of our own, for better or worse.

Trying to watch more of the video but I don't think it goes far enough. If the AI becomes capable enough to replace all jobs required to sustain an economy, I suspect it would soon replace our biological mothers and fathers as superior parents, our human leaders as superior leaders -- and not just replace our servants -- provided we don't become extinct first. 😅

That makes sense to me. I have no idea how it'll actually unfold but the picture I get is Peter Pan who never grows up. It's actually a deeply unappealing image to me since I think our sense of meaning often comes from having responsibilities of a kind we'd probably lack in such a hypothetical future.
