Do you think epilepsy should be reconsidered as a mental illness?

I read this online

In 1960 the World Health Organization (WHO) made the distinction between epilepsy “per se” and epilepsy with deterioration or psychosis in their “International Classification of Diseases.” This simple but momentous decision overturned the millennia-old traditional view that epilepsy was a mental disorder.

Epilepsy is not currently considered a mental illness by doctors but it used to be.

My friend has Epilepsy and some mental illness along side it. I don't know too many details about his treatment, but he sees a neuropsychiatrist who specializes in neuropsychiatry for his treatment. I am not entirely sure what neuropsychiatry is but I heard his neuropsychiatrist has equipment for the brain to treat his patient and doesn't only prescribe medications.

He had a seizure from his epilepsy at the him and he hurt himself really bad and he can never work out in the gym again because of it. It seem neurogenic than just a mental illness. Again I don't know too much about that filed.

I don't think any therapist session can help epilepsy. Same as a open brain surgery can help with grieving depression.
