As others pointed out it is a neurological one which is mostly due to it affection exclusively function and not emotion or mental wellbeing.

That said, I'd not disagree with you that much if you wanted to make the claim, although note I would disagree. Like many mental disorders it is about signals in the brain and that is a very important similarity.

In theory if we can rewire the signal pathways and intensity we can reduce or cure epilepsy. In theory, OCD and depression are biologically similar.
In practice we see this similarity in things like neuroplastic stimulation like rtms, basically shooting low frequency electricity, into our brains being a verified useful treatment for all of them. Noteworthy that while we understand it helps and why, we do not currently understand how.

Aaaand that is why I do not want to outright disagree because I do believe there is some value in considering them the same and comparing what can work. Ultimately though something like "talk therapy", what most people think of, has never been found to help remove epilepsy. So the distinction is still worthwhile and important. But just because they are different does not mean there is nothing in common.

Nope, what  idiot  said it was a mental  Disorder ? Epilepsy is a  neurological condition , which means it originates from abnormal electrical activity in the brain that causes recurrent seizures. It is classified as a disorder of the nervous system, not of the mind.
