Is welfare as generous in Western Europe, Australia, and Canada as we Americans think it is?

As in, can a healthy adult with no children basically live off the state in a comfortable home and not work or is this an exaggeration?

This depends on the country itself, but in general, basic needs like housing, food, medical treatments, get taken care of if you fill out the required forms.
