Why is there this common misconception that Nikki Haley is somehow far more electable than Trump?

I get that in a one on one matchup, Haley vs Biden, Haley would win because she’d appeal across the aisle more than Trump does.

But guess what?

RFK JR is also on the ballot.

And those survey polls that show Haley crushing Biden aren’t accounting for that.

Amongst the polls that do show RFK Jr as an additional option, Haley’s support craters and RFK Jr’s surges and Biden takes the lead by like 10 points.

What does this mean?

A substantial share of Trump voters would rather hand the election to Biden, and defect en masse to support RFK Jr as a protest against the brand of fake conservativism that Nikki Haley represents.

Because RFK Jr represents us far more than the neocon, globalist, corporatist ambitions that Nikki Haley represents.

So no, Nikki Haley would not beat Biden in a general election.

Republican voters would not turn out for her and many of us would just vote for RFK Jr instead.

It's not a misconception. Early polls showed that Nikki Haley would beat Biden by a greater percentage than Trump. That's somewhat changed but more recent polls still show Haley beating Biden in a head-to-head election; similar polls show Trump beating Biden too.
