Why are traits like kindness not emphasized in this day and age?

The people who control the media want to bring us back to an age of scarcity where they control all access to everything people need or want. And so they use their control over the media to make rugged individualism and apathy seem like admirable traits while cooperation and kindness is portrayed as weakness.

But they need to realize that acts of kindness is what helped the human race get to where they are. At this rate it seems like the human species will self destruct

They don't care about the species. The care only about their own sense of validation and controlling more stuff is how they get it,

Because shallowness dominates. What looks better sells better. People don't want to look what's there inside of a person :/
