We are nearing the end of the republic as a result of the natural expansion of the state beyond the means of the people to support it thus crushing them and causing the break down and collapse of sociability.
Capitalism will continue no matter what. Capitalism is simply our means to trade and organize ourselves it doesn't create the preserve incentives not to have kids or work, or build affordable houses. The State does all that and when the state collapses we will resume doing all of those things and recover.
The only question is will this collapse happen before our culture goes extinct and our lands are resettled by other cultures.
i mean i can't talk for you. i live in germany and we are with big strides on the way to communism in Europe.
capitalism does not have an "end stage". it has a cyclical nature. and we're at the bottom of the cycle right now. you know the stage that sometimes states get the idea that socialism and communism might fix the monetary system, realize they don't and then they have to let it crash anyway just to start the cycle new.
it's not just money that works that way. life works that way. every species. biology. it's nature, not some "man made evil".
"Are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we..."
People who like to talk about "late-stage capitalism" never seem to want to discuss what exactly will follow it when it finally disappears. Why is that?
hopefully it will end soon enough for me to make it to see that day
you seem to have a stake in it ending. what's your view?

Capitalism has just about been replaced with socialism. People want to be told what to do. What they can wear. Where they can go and for how long. They don;t want to work and want Gov't aid to live. When you hear people say "US is too materialistic " you have a socialist.
When capitalism ends we will be heading into oligarchy.
I'd rather say that the world has returned to capitalism's early stage.
i would agree but things change throughout history. otherwise we wouldn't have advanced. ideas like the wheel being stolen. how about four wheels and a box on top!!! haha ideas were never about capitalism. they were philosophical
I meant something else, actually:
During the initial industrialization and commercialization of our planet, the work force had been exploited, helpless and rightless; to the benefit of a few moneybags.
Later, there had been a little fairness added.
But much of this is being undone meanwhile.
America's best days are still ahead.
i agree. but there's a lot of death in that
top down or down up?
The world's still kicking
Capitalism will end when the billionaires leave and nuke the rest of this husk
where will they go?
The moon or Mars or just build a living spacecraft
The only reason people can't afford shit is because we are openly defying capitalism and the free market.
The more the government gets involved with business the worse it gets.
seems that way!
define "end stage capitalism"
it's really the demise of capitalism seen through economic means. it's almost a definition. so it can be looked up if you're curious.
but it's here in my opinion
What will take its place? Dark Ages?
No, that’s ridiculous.
So what's next, back to totalitarianism?
