Like the infamous Indian Removal Act in 1830; in which all Indians east of the Mississippi River were forcibly removed, and taken West.
How disgusting is that?
The guy also hated most people...

Things, or thing?
Jackson scoured the Federal government of lazy, corrupt politicians through his "rotation of office" initiatives (good), but in the process, handed out many positions as rewards for his elections, often to criminal scumbags (bad). He took up politics in an effort to avoid having to resolve problems with war (good, and especially poignant in light of his becoming a battle-scarred war veteran and orphan at the age of FIFTEEN). He married young, and stayed loyally devoted to his wife until her death (good), made a small fortune speculating in slave trading (bad), heroically whipped English ass at New Orleans, and so thoroughly destroyed an army of Creek Indians actively engaging in genocide that all their neighbors signed peace treaties with the US government (good). He attempted to prevent a war with Mexico by outright buying Texas from them, which didn't work (good, at least in terms of effort), adopted an orphaned Cherokee to raise as his own (good), and destroyed the national bank (good AND bad, no matter what other people will tell you).
So a very mixed bag. But you're not talking about those things, are you? You're only concerned with one: the forced relocations of the Trail of Tears. I would like you to ask yourself what the alternative was. It wasn't "leave everyone to live in peace and have them all sing Kumbaya together"; those forced evictions were a last-ditch attempt to prevent an outright genocidal war between the US and the Indians. Attempts at integrating them into American society, or at least getting them to stop raiding the local farmers, had been tried and collapsed for YEARS before the US decided removal was the only option. Jackson went himself to oversee the negotiations, and the Choctaws, Chickasaws, and Creeks all came to terms and went willingly; it was only the Cherokees that resisted. If you actually read the treaties, you'll see the land payments were quite generous, the safe transportation westward was guaranteed, and full citizenship awaited any who chose to stay and join the USA. Ultimately, no different from eminent domain powers possessed by the government today.
The implementation was awful, of course; Jackson neither started nor condoned the atrocious conditions the Cherokee endured on the march westward, nor the awful treatment they received along the way, but he DID ignore them. But there was only so much he was in a position to actually DO. Do you blame Johnson for the failures of Reconstruction?
Eh... part of me doesn’t like him.
But he was a legit bad ass. He was involved in countless duels, which I admire and whose practice should have never gone away.
Andrew Jackson would literally run you through with his cutlass or shoot you dead if you insulted him, his family, or if he just didn’t like you or your policies. This was reciprocated in kind. He wasn’t shooting anyone in the back and say what you will about the man—he was no coward.
P. S. Andrew Jackson was a Democrat. You know, the guy you’re upset at for kicking Indians off their land.
@agagagagaga I see you two love each other. 😯😅😂
He wasn't the only President who screwed the Indians. White men were stealing from them and killing them for defending their property. So why pick on him in particular? I also point out The Trail of Tears to which you are referring to. In this sense, he was a dick!

He, along with all the other genocidal White imperialists, founded and built America. Like it or not, what they did laid the foundation for all the luxuries and priveleges Americans enjoy. From the sounds of it, you're an American, meaning you directly benefit from all of the racist genocidal acts and policies of our founding fathers. Why dont you donate your house/land to a native person instead of b*tch online about accomplished White men who had more to do with building America than you ever will? Im serious, give your property away. You might achieve some semblence of the virtue you preach.
@SuperPolite The Indians are already getting back at the white eyes by relieving them of their hard-earned money at their casinos. That is actually how some tribes make their money to live on - or drink with - as a lot of Indians are alcoholics on reservations.
He also had a lot of the Florida indians killed as well. I think he's a horrible man no less than the other early 'forefathers' who all claimed Christianity. They're all snakes to me.
Nope. Quite the contrary. Not only did he rid our continent of the scourge that plagued it. But he was the last president to pay off the national debt. I'd say he was one of our top 5 best presidents.
