Why did fast food work in the United States become a career?

I remember when I was a kid, it was pimple face geeks, flipping burgers and high school kids at the register or something like that. Why did it become an aspiration to serve hamburgers and french fries to people? Don't get me wrong, I am not against the big companies paying people more, I'm just wondering why so many people aspire to only do that? The country needs nurses, police, firefighters, military, some of these have absolutely no education requirement, but people want to work at McDonald's?

If my own kid today work minimum wage today like i did my first job, it will cost me the parent money. Fucker couldn't work enough to pay for his own shoes as they walk to work. let alone anything else worth working for.

Just to save up money I'd slap the shit out of my kid and make them play video games. It would be cheaper by every measure.

That's what happen when I was first working. Walked a foot size hole in my shoes. Save every penny after buying my uniform and slacks. Shoes ate my paycheck alive.

Imagine that walking to work. Working on your feet 9 or even 12 hours a day and walking home with your toes poking out the bottom of your shoes. Save a paycheck every month for another pair of shoes to get eaten away again.

I suppose I worked in fast food in my country from age 19 to 24. So I for one took it because, I was a late bloomer to the job market and because few others were hiring, also it wasn't my first ever job. My first ever job was telemarketing at age 19, a few months prior to me taking the fast food job, "because I had to" lol 😂😆 🍔 🥤 🍔 🐔🍗

Because a lot of Americans are too God Damn lazy and or stupid , don't give a fuck attitude to get educated to get better jobs, so they max out at McDonalds or Burger King and make it a career. Then Indians, Pakistanis and other outsiders have to be brought in to fill the better educated jobs.

For me, like most jobs when a man has nothing else to do for work, was a last resort job. What wouldve been months became years. Then I finally found a job a proper job, sure no skills but a proper job, and left. And been through other so so jobs ever since, good and bad. It's life 🧬
