The world's a wasteland, your humanity is reset by the worst of the new world. You're now alone. How do you expect to move forward?

I'm talking the worst has happened. This fallout series pretties it up I think. Humanity will be much more lost 100yrs in a wasteland. I don't want to mention the worst that I am picturing for everyone's sake here, but legitimately curious how people think they'll be in the new wasted world thrown back into the wild west of the future.

Fallout is an absurd depiction of what post-nuclear annihilation would be like, with the exception of the tribalism. It's not meant to be taken seriously, because the more you look into it, the less it makes sense.

The main problem is that even though all of the Bethesda games take place 200+ years after the mass detonation, everyone on the surface lives and acts like they just came out of their shelters a week ago. Major reconstruction would've started within the first couple years. Furthermore, the environment would be overgrown if anything; not barren and empty. Radiation left by the bombs would be dissipated to negligible levels within approximately six months, so only areas in, around, and involved with things like nuclear power should still be dangerous.

100 years after the bombs fall, humanity would be well on its way back to the top. Fallout was pushing it with 80, but the idea was that the area was relatively isolated, a la Wasteland. Fallout 2 onwards don't have that excuse.
