Trump trial live updates: Judge holds gag order hearing before David Pecker resumes testimony

Former President Donald Trump's hush money trial is set to resume Tuesday at Manhattan Criminal Court, where former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker — the first witness to testify in the case — will return to stand.

Trump is facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to conceal a $130,000 hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels — with whom he allegedly had an extramarital affair — ahead of the 2016 presidential election. "This was election fraud, pure and simple," prosecutor Matthew Colangelo told the jury in his opening statement.

“There’s nothing wrong with trying to influence an election,” Todd Blanche, one of Trump’s lawyers, countered in his. “It’s called democracy.”

Yahoo News will be providing live updates from day two of the historic criminal trial beginning Tuesday at 9:30 a. m. ET.

Prosecutor Chris Conroy said Trump has violated the gag order 11 times — with the most recent alleged violation taking place outside of court yesterday.

Conroy handed Judge Juan Merchan 10 social posts that violated the gag order, eight of which were on Truth Social and two were on Trump's campaign website.
