Should the Court have imposed a gag order on Trump?

A judge imposed a limited gag order on former President Donald J. Trump on Monday, restricting Trump from making public statements attacking the witnesses, prosecutors or court staff involved in the federal criminal case in which he stands accused of conspiring to overturn the 2020 election. Trump is free to make political statements so long as they do not directly reference the Court, it's employees, or witnesses.

The prosecution argued that Trump's followers represent a danger to anyone that he publicly disparages and that they have done this in the past, and a gag order was necesary.

Trump's attorneys argued that any gag order impairs Trump's First Amendment rights.

There are a thousand cases you can point to where the defendent tries the case in the court of public opinion. where I live there is a murder case that is doing just that. Trump has rights given to him under the first amendment. The democrats running the court know that the cases are all bogus and will not hold water. They also know that Trump is way ahead in the polls and if the Republicans can get together long enough to elect a speaker, Biden will soon either be impeached or found unable to perform the duties of the president. The only move they have left is to have Trump taken out

Everyone who commits a crime gets a trial a plea agreement or a dismissal. Trump is not special and he does not get to just walk away from all this.

If he is innocent, that will be the legal finding. If he is guilty, he gets convicted. Like everyone else. Your belief in his innocence is irrelevant just as my belief in his guilt is irrelevant.

All of these charges against Trump are just election interference, which is a crime. I would love to have a law that when a lower court judge gets their rulings overturned 10 times, by a higher court, the lower court judge gets fired. That would solve all of this crap.

Do you think a judge's order to NOT threaten someone has ever actually kept anyone from being threatened? I'm inclined to believe you don't have a lot of experience with organized crime. As it turns out, they ignore judicial orders as much as they ignore laws. Maybe even more.

I think if the judge can't take a little public criticism then he need to find a new line of work. I will give the judge this though. He made it a narrow gag order though. It's not to prevent Trump from talking about it just not about the judge and members of the court.
