I had a course called Discrete Mathematics in grad school. The exams were brutal. They lasted for 3 hours and you literally wrote the whole time. I used to bring 6 sharpened pencils to class. At the end of the 3 hours nobody in the class was fniished. The professor used to go around and snatch the pencil out of your hand and tell you that time was up. After the final I went to the bathroom before I went home. There was a grown man in the bathroom and he was in tears. I felt really bad for this guy but I felt like crying too.

I’d be afraid for him and i’d try to help. When a man has so much inside of him that he can’t keep it inside in plain view of perfect strangers, that’s a critical moment. There are deep and far reaching consequences for men who cry in public. None of them good. He might feel like he has nothing left to lose. I’ve been there and i wouldn’t wish that feeling on anyone.

i'd probably think something really bad happened or he's really at the last straw. for a guy to break down in public something must be very wrong. would judge him or anything

He's either experiencing something really tragic or he's really pissed off and his anger is leaking through his eyes to lubricate them for battle.

I'd be concerned because that probably means someone died or something. Men don't cry in public over minor things.

I have personally been in this situation before and i would tell him exactly what my father would have said. "Man up, keep in mind there is always someone in a worse position than you in life. Wanna go to therapy? Be a victim. How about actively working to solve your problems instead of standing/sitting there and crying about it."

The same thing I'd think if I saw a woman crying in public...  I'd figure they were in trouble and needed help. I'd probably ask them if they needed help.
