Yes, China's economic system is capitalist.

They built the world's largest shopping mall. One of them looked across the sea at our great temples to The Almighty Dollar, and thought "I'll build the grandest and most glorious one of those the world has ever seen!". In a Communist society, that person would be burned at the stake.

The Chinese are now, as they have always been, WAY too tolerant of authoritarianism. Holding on to the "Communist" label just gives their government an excuse to suppress people and murder dissidents.

Or, rather, the Chinese rebel leadership, since the government of China is still operating out of Taipei.

yes, and chinese students were shocked when i asked if their parents owned their house! they consistently said they "are capitalism same as you" like how could i think it was different?

only in laos had economic communism for a short time until vietnam invaded n fixed it to modern communism.

even china redivision of land had capitalism mixed in, but not enough to succeed.
