If you trusted them, you got what you deserved. Every one of those organizations is in the game for money and/or power. If you trusted them to do ANYTHING other than foster their own wealth and power, you are wearing blinders. To put it kindly.
By the by, it doesn’t matter if we never trust them again. They are done with us. China & India have a combined population nearing three BILLION people. Both countries are being better controlled than the US with its measly 300M. They work for dirt until they die. Their national consumption has surpassed ours and they haven’t really even embraced capitalism yet. Even if we resorted again to slave labor, we can’t touch them. That’s where all the jobs are going to go. That’s where all the companies are going to market. And the big fat multinational corporations that run everything won’t miss us one bit. Oh, they WILL keep their headquarters here. The US is pretty much the only country on the planet that lets them get away with whatever they want. So attacking the corporations means going to war with the US. It’s actually quite brilliant. Though it never needed to be. They had us licked as soon as they implemented a 2-party government. We’ve been beating each other up ever since. Nobody’s even paying any real attention to the REAL oppressors. When they do, they WORSHIP them. Ell oh ell!

When I was a kid the news media was regarded as trustworthy. Guys like Chet huntley and David Brinkley and Eric Severeid and of course Walter Cronkite were people you could invite into your living room every night. I actually started in college to major in broadcast journalism. My professors always talked about the responsibility that journalists had as purveyors of the truth. Now the news is slanted 90% towards democrats. You can see the impartiality of the fake news mediaas they report on Trump's legal issues with smiles on their demented faces.

They were just better at hiding the truth. Media conglomerates are, if not the entire problem, the greatest part of the problem. And that shit started early in twentieth century by William Randolph Hearst. Among journalists i think he’s still considered one of the greats. But when you look at what he started and how far it’s gone. If the modern media is Hitler, then Hearst was the Weimar republic. None of this was possible without him. And he was way before our time.

It is fairly recently that the news "seems slanted towards Democrats". And that is because everybody can see the videos of the Trumpsters (who have killed and replaced the GOP) committing crimes and hear them bragging in detail about what they have done and what they will do. And the smiles on the faces are because the things the right believes are almost a comedy show. And the reason Trump has so many legal issues is because he has committed so many crimes. He would already be incarcerated if he had not managed to get the support of the right as he appointed so many corrupt judges, all the way up to the Supreme Court.

Trump never took bribes, he never had sex with an intern in the Oval Office , He never destroyed a rogue email server that contained classified emalis, He never lied to the FISA court to get a search warrant to spy on his opponents. He did spend a few nights in hotels his company owns and hat the taxpayers pay for it. I suppose he should be imprisoned for that?

Well, there are the ones that he is currently being tried for. There are the times he took classified documents to his residence that were supposed to be left in the archives. There were the times he lied about having turned all of them back and several boxes more were found in his home. There were the times he lied claiming that Biden cheated in the election which have been proven as lies many times over (and it was actually him that was creating lies and having his cohorts help him spread them (conspiracy), inciting a huge crowd to attack the Capitol, and many more almost daily.

I haven't trusted institutions since I was in high school. Who created them? Who are they designed to benefit? Are they democratic or even transparent?

I feel sorry for people who ever "trusted" them. But I'm happy that more and more people are waking up.

I don't take anybody's word. I double check by seeking more information.
If someone or some entity lies once or manipulates, I never trust them again.

It was then and there I lost all hope of trusting authority figures.

@sage2021 Yes, long before the church scandal hit the newspapers I sort of knew about this. I knew hundreds of cops all over the state. I used to hear stories about all kinds of things including pervert priests. Sometimes the cops would have to have a talk with some priest that was diddling little kids. You could not arrest a priest because you would go to hell but the cops would just try to quietly put a stop to the abuse. My wife is Catholic and I used to tell her the stories and she never believed it. When it all came out she was so disappointed she stopped going to church. I am angry about this because it was a big part of her life and now she does not see it the same way.
