I work in various neighborhoods/cities. One particular city I noticed the cops don't patrol. They'll come out if you call them, but they go right back to the police station. I was working in another neighborhood and saw a cop for the first time in like 4 years and even that time he was driving like he had somewhere to go, so not actually patrolling the neighborhood. Then you can go to another city and you'll have both city and county cops around like mosquitos after a rain storm. Is it just a budget thing?

Mine take 2 1/2 hours to turn up, on a good day. And it's a big town. Good Q. After getting hit by a semi truck I was waiting two hours for AAA to pick up, and another two for them to show (this and when it happened one was in view. Said he had to be called in.. but the cops. Nowhere to be seen in four hours.. well aside one driveby and another to stop in a hamburger place same lot.
A few months later they were bragging about how amazing they were in the instagram account. Always there for the community. I told them about the accident. They wrote back saying I was a liar. I replied with the day/time/location and 12 calls. Look it up.
Silence.
Lots of laughter and likes calling them out. I was done with social media about then.
It's usually a demographics thing. Police mostly patrol poor neighborhoods and especially poor black neighborhoods. Police know if they are too present in middle class suburbs the people living there will complain and eventually vote for leadership that knows not to do that.
