+1 yNot necessarily religion, but a value system, yes. Conservatives don’t rely on big daddy government and their paychecks as heavily as the left. These are people who pride themselves on self reliance and independence. Sure, most of them want to be rich like Drumpf, and some might even believe they can be. But they have values above money. In the end, when our corrupt government turns the economy against us, they can go hunting, fishing and keep tending to their gardens, farms and livestock. Their “economic interests” are not the same as yours. You should get to know them better.
On another post, you made a sideways comment about preppers; that you’re worried about them and their “arsenals”. Clearly you haven’t met any, because you don’t understand them at all. Why would you fear people who have gone to great lengths to remove themselves from larger communities and learned to be completely self reliant? Are you planning to form a gang of marauders to steal from people who prepared because you failed to? That’s the only kind of people who should be afraid of preppers. They’re taking care of themselves. They don’t want what you have and they’re certainly not going to waste resources trying to take what you almost certainly won’t have anyway.
You should actually meet some conservatives. You talk about them like “other” and miss the mark by a lot.13 Reply- +1 y
Remarkable. In that entire soliloquy you never answered the question!
It's not about preppers, self reliance, off the grid, etc.
I'm asking why there is an antipathy to cooperation and mutual benefit!
Oh, my cousin is a prepper. He's fucking out of his mind and never shuts up about the deep state. No one really speaks with him anymore but his step bro. - +1 y
I literally answered the question in the first sentence. The TWO questions you actually asked, one is a fallacy. Conservatives do NOT vote against THEIR financial interests. They vote against YOUR financial interests. Either you don’t understand their way of life at all, which is the benefit of the doubt i’m giving you, or you’re trolling again. The OTHER question is also a partial fallacy because you suppose the answer IN the question. I also answered that. It’s not necessarily religion, but it is a value system that, again, you either don’t understand or you’re trolling.
I think you overlook the answers that aren’t the ones you think you want to trap with the clever framework of your biased questions.
If your cousin is the ONE prepper you’ve met, you still don’t know shit. I’ve met dozens of preppers and hundreds of conservatives, including a few radicals. You frequently miss the mark with your assertions. Maybe deliberately, i suppose. That’s fine. But you can drop the holier than thou moral superiority nonsense. If you’re not willing to learn about how wrong you are about people you frequently mischaracterize, you’re a bigot like any other. - +1 y
Okay let's take one at a time. Why would conservatives vote against liberal interests?

But mostly I’m sure it’s personality. They see Repubs and conservative causes like abortion as their personality.
Where as we liberals see policy as “what’s best for the most amount of people”.00 Reply

+1 yI’ll restate what i heard from Naomi Klein said that republicans get the overall feelings right but the facts wrong and i do believe it’s on purpose that way. So a lot of us in the United States have come to learn that the game is rigged against us, republican politicians, Fox News etc have all tapped into that overall genuine feeling and they point the fingers in the wrong directions. In short republican followers are largely being brainwashed and its not an accident.

Excellent answer!!

Wanting cheap gasoline, low inflation , not wasting money on endless foreign wars and paying over a half trillion dollars a year to support millions of freeloaders from all over the work seems pretty economically sound.

Healthcare? Infrastructure?
Health & safety?
Support for labor unions? Prevention of environmental damage? Tech regulations? Anti-trust enforcement? Energy development? Capital markets & insurance regulations? Why don't conservatives support a government that works For them? - 1 y
so flooding out hospitals will illegal aliens is helping healthcare? Defunding the police makes us safe? Bringing in people who will work for below minimum wage helps unions? Republicans are the ones wanting to end censorship in bid tech companies. There is no anti trust regulations in both parties, It is the democrats that have shut down domestic energy production. It is the democrats that have been working against American Citizens. Why do you think our lives were a lot better when Trump was president?
12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No. So called "conservatives" are drones, and vote more out of habit than interest.

Is that a corollary of Christian theology and culture?

Can you give me some context and details about what you're referring to?

+1 yThe voters are lied to and the politicians recieve money from rich to people to keep it this way. But thats also true for democratic party
01 Reply- +1 y
But why is there this belief in the fiction of "rugged I dividualsim" and "self made men" ? Why is there no meaningful labor movement? No sense of community duties instead of this psychopathy of individual right with no concurrent responsibilities?
+1 ySo you believe conservatives vote against their own economic self interests? That’s some very sophisticated cerebral blinders you are wearing.
17 Reply- +1 y
We mean they are told what to vote for and are lied to thinking it’s whatever it is thats ailing them but in reality when you examine it more closely actually makes things worse. Thats what we mean.
- +1 y
@Still-alive And you think it’s conservatives that do that and not liberals? Very interesting perspective.
- +1 y
for the most part...
- +1 y
@Still-alive So explain to me how the liberal agenda of decriminalizing drug offenses, release without bail, allowing those in the US illegally to remain here while being supported by taxpayer dollars, and inflation inducing monetary policy are “helping” the majority of citizens.
- +1 y
i could explain all those things to you but lets be real you don't wanna listen lol. you're too far gone. i just answered your main inquiry thats it.
- 1 y
@Still-alive So basically what you are saying is you have no explanation but want to push the blame for your lack of an explanation onto me by claiming I wouldn’t listen. How very liberal of you to push blame elsewhere. 😂
- 1 y
Nope. But you think that anyways
1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Capitalism is in everyone's interest we need CEO's as much as we need workers liberals however exploit envious resentment to gain power.
12 Reply- +1 y
I'm Not sure what envious resentment you're talking about but I would be interested for further clarification.
I, flaming liberal, agree that capitalism has been the greatest driving force for innovation and a forward progress of humanity than any other economic system. Most of those agree with that despite ignorant people calling his communists or Marxist. To be honest the only difference between us is how and how much we mitigate the negative externalities like labor exploitation and pollution among many other negative effects of capitalism.
So my question still remains, why do conservatives vote against their own interests whether it's collective bargaining, pollution mitigation, national healthcare, infrastructure investment, affordable housing, etc? - +1 y
1. Many conservatives were in unions, but those have declined, the mob infiltrated them and a lot of jobs they involved were automated or exported overseas, even liberals these days seem more interested in changing things at a national level than going on strike.
2. Pollution mitigation would mean heavier taxes on gas which will hit working class Americans much harder, additionally the talk of global warming often involves (as usual today) third world countries trying to get compensation from wealthy countries.
3. Obamacare caused insurance rates to skyrocket as everyone had to buy healthcare. In terms of why they oppose free non-insurance healthcare honestly I think democrats secretly know we can't afford that. Europeans can get it honestly because Americans are paying for it. Where do you think all the costs of researching drugs get dumped?
4. Infrastructure investment: We support that sometimes, we don't want to overwhelm the budget though.
5. Affordable housing: homelessness actually increases with rent control, whatever Trump says about saving suburbia, conservative cities actually tend to have looser zoning laws allowing the building of lower rent housing and businesses.
4.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Why do people on the far left vote for things that destroy the country like open borders?
26 Reply- +1 y
OPEN BORDERS DON'T EXIST!! Stop it. See my post about visa overstays. That's the problem!
- +1 y
So we don't have a border patrol or customs or drones or walls? Huh, I don't know that...
- +1 y
@DrPepper12 It’s not working, the boarder that is. Biden has been giving amnesty but even he seems to have had enough if you are current on the news. But it is more likely just some timing for November so it looks like he is doing something about it… then afterwards it is back to wide open again.
