Why do some people care so much about what people online think about them?

because they need to validate their own existence

and when people don't "validate" their existence, they lash out at them

e. g. high body count women and the men who wifed them up call other men who reject high body count women as "insecure"

Well, if u post a picture of yourself online, u will get criticism of your image no matter how perfect u r because that's the world we live. There r haters out there.

Its simple, don't post a picture of yourself online and it won't happen.

In the real world as in going to work, shopping etc... distance urself from people who r like that.

Believe in urself, don't let the haters get to you. They do that because they have low self esteem and get their confidence from breaking others down. When u break down because of what they said to you, they win. They will hurt more if u ignore them.

So, ignore them...

I couldn't give a rat's ass what people think of me on a cell phone or computer screen.
But some people have a hard time in life socially and here is where they find “friends” or even “romance”.
It is amazing that people online can be what they aren't in real life...

If you didn’t grow up securely attached to a stable adult figure in your life you learn that attachments are rare and hard to come by and praise or approval then becomes something you seek from others (sometimes online) to feel that sense of connection, secure attachment, and stability even if it is fleeting
