Then that is where the trial should have taken place. That is only fair. Since when did that law no longer exist and now the Attorney General or whoever is in charge of determining where a trial will take place can just pick the city and court of their choice?
This was just another set-up from the democrats so President Trump would be sure to Not get a fair trial or be judged by a jury of HIS piers.

There was no actual crime in the first place, but as regards jurisdiction, it's obvious from the civil trials that Trump cannot get a fair trial in Manhattan, so the trial should have been moved somewhere where he could.

But if you are a real criminal with a rap sheet that is as long as a frickin yardstick, you are set free again and again to commit more crimes. No punishment for you! The criminal's are considered the good people now. They can even be set free to murder people and get away without jail time.

I remember when Trump fired the Director of the FBI, James Comey.
I was sick in bed and watched the whole hearing and all his answers about letting Hillary Clinton get away with all of her crime's. He said they didn't even interview anyone. 🙄
It was so cool to watch the whole day of how the firing of Comey happened.

He was in a meeting at the time in a different state somewhere. Trump called him and told him to report to him immediately!
There was a jet plane waiting outside for Comey. He got on and he sure looked worried. Like WTF!!
Of course we didn't see him go into the White House but everyone knew he was getting 🔥 fired.
It was a classic.

Most of the time a trail is held where the charges are filed. Shopping for a judge and sympathetic jury is not a right afforded a criminal defendant.

The goal is to prove that a crime was committed beyond a reasonable doubt and if anything, the court proved the opposite. Michael Cohen straight up admitted that the hush money was money he stole from Trump through a false invoice.

In general yes, but it depends if you can't get a jury of your peers as trump clearly could not in a 87% democrat jurisdiction. Then you can get a change of venue within the state.
Judges are also suppose to follow the written law, precedent, and recuse themselfs when there is a clear bios or conflict of interest. But that doesn't happen thanks to being without consequence and self-enforced by the judge.

It seems as though these judges just shoot from the hip and make up laws as they fit the situation in the bad guys favor.

What the hell did they bother to go to law school for. Maybe that's where they learn how to break laws that are in the books and supposed to be followed.

Again that depends upon the State, Many if not most states hold judges accountable for bad behavior. New York is really bad about this and instead depends more about the quality of your lawyer to pick Venus and manipulate the judge.

Maybe that is why New York has more lawyers per person than any other state. Twice as many as California 3 times as many as Texas.

Th trial against Trump was politically motivated and the US justice system leaves a lot to be desired. It is bias and corrupt to the very core. Here in the UK crimes are never tried in the city/town they were committed in and the juries also come from a different location. This is to prevent the possibility of judges/lawyers and jurors from knowing the people involved or bumping into them in the town/city.

It doesn't have to be. If it's not possible for the accused to get a fair trial in the same town the trial could be moved. However it's a very high bar to prove that a fair trial wouldn't be possible, particularly if the defendant spends every waking hour making prejudicial statements on Twitter.

I have not been following his case. However from the general information I heard, if the illegal act happened in manhattan therefore Manhattan has jurisdiction over the case. Except if Supreme Court were to take over.

Yes, unless the a motion this filed to change the location. That is typically granted in cases where the defendant’s lawyer argues a fair trial would not be possible due to circumstances surrounding the case.

His lawyers did file a motion to change the location, it was denied because he’s a high profile defendant and it wouldn’t have made any difference as far as media exposure where a trail was held. It’s not legal to “shop” for a trial location because you feel the odds are better elsewhere.

You can read the indictment for yourself it’s posted on Wikipedia. If the statutes of limitations were expired the judge would have been legally bound to dismiss the charges. You can be sure Alvin Bragg would not have brought a case before the court that couldn’t have been tried. That’s law school 101.
