What does it mean to be a good citizen?

My definition of good citizen is someone who is an educated voter: researches candidates and issues, ask questions, & verifies information. A good citizen also helps his community by volunteering, using locally owned businesses, being a good neighbor, keeping his property up, and respecting the life, liberty, and property of others.

The Golden Rule is all that is necessary to be a good neighbor, which is much more valuable than a good citizen.
Good citizens must be subservient to a government. So what it means to be a good one depends on the government. I prefer to be of service to those who need it rather than those who demand it.

Agree but would add protest, challenges authority and exercise and knows their rights. I would also say that good citizenship should NOT be measured by standing for pledge or natl anthem. That's some juvenile shit right there. Sometimes flags are for burning.
