Would you support an all out ban of Social media, or limiting it to a few minutes a day for your children?

I know i would. There is a viral mom that is getting some hate because she limits screen time with her kids to a small amount, they aren't allowed to have their devices in their rooms, they must be left in the family room when going to bed and the like, and social media isn't allowed until the summer before college. I fully support all of this. There are a lot of idiots that are complaining, suggesting this kind of thing is abusive and damaging to children, where literally all recent studies show that social media is actually damaging to children.

Certainly!! 💯 kids don’t need social media to grow!! It’s so damaging!! They need parents love and attention and guidance and respect.

Sadly my ex hubby is the one in control of tech … so he gave them an iPhone/ipad at a younger age which I disagreed but I am not one to fight…

well…as I continue to raise the kids…anything we do, say, has consequences…as I shared with them.

so there have been some damages done…even more so when COVID happened ALL kids/teachers re forced to use technology to learn.
At home, we can do a lot to guide them… our bedrooms are only for resting/sleeping… even when their friends come over…they play outside or in other parts of the house like pool in the basement, the piano, guitar, sing or basketball, tennis or cooking … now they also play some games/video games, homework … as much as us parents can provide the supervision… it’s still a battle with the society. And that I too discuss with the kids so they understand what we are going against.

As parents, we still have a lot of guidance for our children, such as sitting down every night to enjoy dinner together in our dinning room and discuss important things (finances/career choices/relationships/travel plans) … our meal time is always around an hour and I hope they continue to pass on these traditions.
We have not own a TV for over 20 years.

those who have not have encountered raising kids during the high of social media may not yet understand the challenges one faces.

It was far more damaging a few years ago when the hype (with anything new) was still pushed. I think even young people are quickly disillusioned with it now. Banning itself is up to the parents.

She be the one. Hopefully it will inspire other mothers to do the same. When I was a kid I stayed outside. The weather made little difference.

Yes, if my kids were little when social media came out there is no way would I let them anywhere near it.

no... to learn how to properly use something, using it is needed... making mistakes is needed and deep conversations are needed... not bans...

Yes but only if that includes banning ut for the adults. Theyre more irresponsible/immature on social media than the children
