Do you think we should stop with all the Biden/Trump questions?

The left asks all their questions and states their opinions and gets mad when anyone disagrees. The right asks all their questions and states their opinions and gets mad when anyone disagrees. The left thinks Trump is a criminal and the worst president ever. The right thinks Biden is a criminal and the worst president ever. No one is going to change their mind based on anything said on here, so all we have is hatred flying back and forth that doesn't accomplish anything.

I think a lot about this actually and my thinking says time and place is important. My opinion is that you're very unlikely to change someone's mind but not impossible. A lot is riding in this election, so I do think it's worth arguing, but I also do think it's high effort low impact. Just not zero impact and one vote can make a difference.

Some people just don't like to hear these conversations, are tired, don't care, and that's ok too. For them, I think staying away from these questions makes sense and is understandable.

That said, I think friends and family conversation should be avoided because it almost always ends in screaming and hurt feelings. Older generations used to say no politics or religion at the dinner table and they were right.

Online you can easily not engage or have to partake, so I think it should continue for the people that want to discuss, argue, or even vent.

I don't believe you're wrong by saying minds are not really changing, but I have seen some change. That matters to me at least but no one she be forced to talk about anything they don't want to. Should we all be more civil to each other when discussing this, yes, and trolls make that harder.

Political discussions nowadays are a complete waste of time. Opinions should be based on facts, not emotions, and one side has taken the tactic of denying all facts they don't like even when proven to be true. Of course, when the cultists read this, they'll say "You're right - it's the Dems", and vice-versa.

When you can't agree, or refuse to agree, on ANY given facts, then you have no basis to move towards an understanding or intelligent evaluation of ANY subject. Hence, this is why I say it's ALL a waste of time.

There will be no great changing of anyone's minds. I dare say that Trump could come out tomorrow and tell his followers "Everything I told you is a lie. I don't give a shit about you, anyone of you, or this country. It's just a way for me get richer". The followers would not believe it and say " He's got some sort of brilliant plan going here and this is a test to see if we'll stick by him".

This is the current state of futility in the US when it comes to politics. Republicans refuse to denounce Trump and find a sane replacement. Dems refuse to say "Thank you Joe, but we need someone else". All I can say is; a diminished Biden is still better than a diminished Trump in every way imaginable. Read Project 2025 and you'll know why I say that. If you want Gilead (A Handmaid's Tale), vote for Trump.

Political questions that are about concepts of laws and society overall are more intriguing.
And the opposite side I have yet to see one have any bases of a logical argument that could even make me at least go well I can see how your logic got to that even if I disagree. So what is the point.

I toned back my replies to them for now since this site lacks a mute comments feature. All I said is that trump is good at bullying other countries in compliance and people have been debating all kinds of random stuff in the comments. Everytime I login there are like 30 notifications and 25 of those is that discussion.

Yeah very much so, plenty gag members come from countries with election in next few days or months, hardly anyone mentions it or really gets bothered about politics. It’s fairly well accepted they do the same stuff but under a different name. I do not know why but the US seems to be incredibly political and automatically assume everyone else is the same.
