It angers me that the DNC will not only be hand picking a candidate who got 0 primary votes, but will be picking Kamala Harris of all people. It's my opinion the Democratic Nomination should go to Dean Phillips, who came in second place in the primary, not Harris who has a lower approval rating then Biden.
That is not how that works at all. First of all, if we are going with votes then the election will have to be redone considering Biden just eliminated the vote of every person that voted for him, and as such they deserve a new chance to elect someone. This would obviously mean that Dean Philips would not win.
More importantly though, voters elected a representative to vote in their place. Alike how the electoral collage works for the actual presidential election. Those electors are still elected by the people and they will have to choose another candidate to vote for, that is what will actually decide if its Harris or not.
Lastly, both the Republican party and the Democrat party are private organizations. They have no legal obligation to actually respect democracy in the first place. People keep thinking this is some official thing, its not. The parties can pick and choose whoever they want for whatever reason they want. The voting is mostly just there to try pick the most likable candidate. It is not a critical part of the process in reality.
At this point I am pretty sure that Democrats just wants to move past this and get to the next candidate. It does not really matter who that candidate is or how they got picked, just that it happens quickly so they can move on to actually focusing on the election.

USA demands the truth!”

What is the democrat party? They’re clearly not democratic as their current nominee wasn’t voted for by the people of this country. If anything, the Republican Party has become the democratic-Republican party of the beginning of our country since Trump was actually voted for by the people to be the nominee. Harris was Biden’s VP and was/is the most disliked possible candidate for the dems. So I ask again, what is the so called democrat party since they’re not democratic?

Why?
The primary system is a relatively NEW thing. Only in the last 50 years or so, do most states have a primary. There is no Constitutional requirement (nor could there be at the Federal level or below) that political parties must use a democratic process for nominations.
Keep in mind that political parties are private entities. They are no different than, say, the NRA. If you're not a member of the NRA, you don't complain that you don't have a voice in who selects the NRA president. And if you are a member of the NRA, you subscribe to whatever process the NRA uses to select their president albeit you can likely vote internally about that.
I want to be clear about something.
The primaries are a bit like the Electoral College.
When you vote in a primary for a candidate, what you are really voting for is a party convention delegate who is pledged to support the candidate who won your state (or something like that). At the convention, THEN the delegates vote for who the candidate will be.
With the DEM situation, under DEM party rules, Biden had so many pledged delegates. For those delegates to vote for anyone else, he had to release them which implicitly he has done since he has dropped out of the race.
So, now, those delegates are free to vote for whichever candidate they wish. But there is no guarantee that Harris will be the nominee. However, in the interests of the party because time is short, it is often the VP who gets the nod. Further infighting just wastes time and resources.
That said, you should WATCH the Democratic convention this year. Unlike past years, this will be a real convention like 2 generations ago. Since the primary system became dominant, conventions were more like coronation ceremonies. Not this time.
I'm an Indeorndent but I feel sorry for those people who voted for Biden n primaries and caucuses and now their vote means nothing. I'm still waiting to hear how many votes Harris got. A sad day for democracy.

It's the Democrats own fault for allowing this to happen. Like the rest of us, they clearly saw Biden was senile and incompetent before the 2020 election, but they allowed it to go forward. They clearly saw he fell apart at the debate (which the wanted us to see), but they let it go forward, and continued saying, "we love Biden, we still want him as president." You can see messages here with people saying it every day. Then he "drops out," and they are completely shocked, and now they are fully convinced Kamala is going to be the next nominee and they think it's the greatest thing ever, even though she's also clearly incompetent to be president based on her lack of intelligence and ability. But they still go along, until the party springs the next thing on them.
