However, the other bottom dwellers are more-or-less universally agreed upon as well: the 2 presidents before Lincoln and the one after: Franklin Pierce (14), James Buchanan (15), and Andrew Johnson (17). Pierce and Buchanan's actions and inactions exacerbated and not mitigated the circumstances that led to the Civil War. Lincoln's choice of Johnson as his second Vice President was a bad choice since Johnson was from Tennessee and a de facto racist Southerner; the worst possible person during Reconstruction.

The other universally agreed upon bottom-dweller was Warren G. Harding who died in office. His corruption was famous. He was very popular while president, but after he died at age 57 while President, many issues were discovered after he died.

I would say Lincoln is probably the worse, although FDR was bad.

Lincoln killed off 800k people destroying half of America all so that he could transform the once voluntary Constitutional republic into an involuntary empire.

After Lincoln final realized how poorly that would play to history several years in he tried to recast his brutal war of conquest as somehow about slavery.

A blaten lie, as wars start for the reasons leader sway their governments to start fighting them, not for whatever reason you declare after its half over. Nor can you claim a peaceful and demograic act as starting a war.

So if you want to say the South Started the war then you must claim they did so to evict U. S. military forces from their lands actively trying to tax their trade. The violent force of such taxation generally being regarded as an active war itself.

I don't really blame presidents for much of what happens in our country, but the time period that Obama was in office was the most destructive in our history, and it's unlikely people are willing to recognize it. One small part of it revolves around the revision to the Smith Mundt Act that allowed the government to fund the media and allowed the media to flat out lie and flat out create news. This, in every way, legalized government funded propaganda. This is the agonal breathing of a democracy. Survival unlikely.

Years ago I read that Woodrow Wilson was a pretty terrible guy. So was Calvin Coolidge. In fact a bunch of those guys from the late 1800s to the 1920s were supposed to be awful.

In my lifetime though? I would say George W. Bush was the worst president I lived through. Staged a bunch of political bullshit as reasons to invade Afghanistan and Iraq, and for a little bit after invading Iraq he was toying with the idea of then invading Iran. I laughed back when Putin attacked Ukraine and Bush was speaking about it and made a slip of the tongue, saying "the unjust invasion of Iraq." I haven't researched every president. Surely it's someone from the 1700 or 1800s. But from modern times, I would say Jimmy Carter. Even excluding Biden, I would probably still say Carter. It's the only time I know of in U. S. history (at least modern U. S. history), where we had gas rations. But I could be wrong. Regardless, there's no way the two Bushes were worst than Obama and Carter! No way!

Neither Biden nor Trump come anywhere close- assuming you look objectively. The bottom four are pretty unambiguous: Fillmore, Lincoln, Wilson, and Harrison (WH). The only variation in ranking depends on what you prioritize.

He "make a few questionable calls" in illegally jailing reporters; he straight-up suspended habeus corpus, undermining the very concept of the rule of law. He oversaw the largest expansion of Federal power since the foundation of the country, directly attacking the confederation the Constitution sets the country up to be. He enslaved his own citizens to fight a war.

And the whitewashing of his reputation is so thorough that you get called a Satanist for doubting it. Don't believe me? Look at pictures of the Lincoln Memorial. All of it, please; be thorough. Compare it with Jefferson's and Washington's. It has the same Greek-inspired stylings that many of the capital's buildings do- but only Lincoln gets a throne. It's not a coincidence.
