What is a Democracy?

If a Democracy means that all citizens within a specific state territory are bound to submit themselves to the laws approved by that territory’s ruling majority coalition, no matter what, that is not freedom; that is force. In the U. S. majoritarian rule is used to strip individuals of their rights. The ultimate result is slavery.

If Democracy is self-determination, self-government, self-rule, then Democracy means groups of people—including even very small groups of people—can freely chose either to remain within a certain country, state, or city; or else to leave. This definition of democracy is incompatible with the very idea of the modern state.

The United States is not a democracy. It's a constitutional representative Republic.

A Democracy by definition is "mob rule"

For example, the U. S. is not a "Democracy". It's a Constitutional Republic; which is a form of democracy but with checks and balances to protect it's citizens from government overreach. (I. e. The Constitution, the Amendments, The Bill of Rights, States Rights, etc...).

A law with no penalty nor any means of enforcement is no law at all. In effect that is most of the Constitution.

You just proposed the very antithesis of civilization. To live together in groups requires a sacrifice of some natural rights to the common good and concurrently, the obligation and duty of the representatives of the common good to provide for the individuals and maintenance of their rights that have not been turned over to the state. Are you really proposing that governments are the only entities that should have a monopoly on violence but that individuals should have that too? Hobbes would have loved you...
