I think it would have contributed to a Had Enough mind set by patriots but who would have waited until Vance was elected with Ramaswamy. Not by itself, Republicans would be even more angry, suspicious of a totalitarian state, but we would put up someone like Ron Desantis and see if he win's peacefully before concluding the whole system is irredeemably rigged and taking drastic measures to set ourselves free in the event of a loss confirms such believes.

Even still it would take years, and even with a win we would be disillusioned with an elite establishment and looking in that direction more.

No assassination in US history has resulted in a civil war. It wouldn't in this case either. Sure, you'd have many people upset, and some would be violent, but the country would remain together. It takes more than the actions if one individual to cause civil war, there would need to be several underlying principles. Despite all our differences, the American people have much more in common than different.

Without a figurehead I doubt the MAGA crowd could organize any significant uprising. I would guess there would have been political violence for sure, but not at levels high enough that it wouldn't be squashed pretty quickly.

We did the same thing during the BLM riots. Blm came to my town, wanting to march down main. Heavily armed people lined both sides of the streets and the mayor literally told the Blm terrorists "commit violence at your peril, the police will not stop the citizens defending them selves with lethal force" so they marched and promptly left.
