I see t-shirts raving about coffee, meme's raving about coffee, people going nuts over how they can't start their day without coffee! People that make videos suggest that you buy them coffee! What the fuck? You don't have a quarter to buy your own coffee? I think, what you REALLY need is a 12-step program!!
When I get up, I'll go as much as 4 to 6 hours before I even bother to eat breakfast and then, I chase that down with a cup of tea! Even when I drank cappuccino 20-some years ago, I never had more than 2 a day! One with breakfast and MAYBE one with dinner, depending on what dinner was (spaghetti or something with gravy)! Otherwise, I'd have root beer.
1.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Amen! I'm not a coffee guy either. Once in a million years I will drink it if I need a serious kick for awakeness, but vast majority of the time I do not drink it. I only drink tea, and I don't even drink that every day for a start anymore either. I have learned how to improve my body and not need caffeine all the time.
Coffee consumption is one of the contributing factors to poor lifestyles and addiction in our society, because people can't live a day without it and are constantly looking for that dopamine hit, which high levels of caffeine provide. On top of that people are also heavy drinkers of energy drinks, which also have high caffeine levels, and when you drink a lot of them you run the risk of heart attack and other organ issues. This addiction to the dopamine hit has also opened up doors for people to start needing weed, fentanyl, and whatever else will do the trick for them. I don't blame this all on just coffee of course, but I think it's a big factor for it because 90% of people are coffee drinkers and can't function without it.

I only have tea in the morning to kill the milk taste in my mouth from the cereal I just finished. If dinner is spaghetti or something with gravy, that needs tea, too because it just doesn't mix well in my stomach with root beer!
I don't think my root beer even has any caffeine in it, anymore. - 1 y
I have some fruit and mint teas but, I just haven't gotten to them, yet.

Because the caffeine is addictive, once you are addicted it’s hard to give it up , just like cigarettes, which I am addicted to as well, I tried quitting a few times and it sadly sucks me right back in , I quit smoking for 2 years and during that 2 years I still had a craving for a cigarette at times. Coffee sadly does the same shit lol So if I don’t have coffee in the morning when I wake up , my day is pretty shot , I need that boost of caffeine to get me moving or I will barely want to do shit. Why Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts etc are jammed packed with people to get their caffeine kick in for the day. If you ever go to Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks drive through , you will notice a lot of people in line looking miserable and tired until the get their coffee lol

I'm told tea has more caffeine than coffee. I have tea every morning about 3 to 5 hours after I get up and I'm not addicted to it and don't HAVE to have it before I can do anything else.
I use to drink cappuccino from `94 to about `14 and haven't had any since. While drinking it, it was the same as tea: one cup with breakfast and one for dinner if dinner wasn't good to eat with root beer.
About the only thing I'm addicted to is records, drums and music. - 1 y
Fine with me. Here's what my band sounded like.

Thanks! We mostly played originals but, as Bob was won't to say, "even the covers we did were original". He wrote all the songs, we just came up with the music. No, we broke up 19 years ago and then my singer died a few years later. He was exposed to agent orange when he was in Viet Nam and it eventually gave him cancer and killed him.
- 1 y
I’m sorry to hear that , I knew a handful of people that sadly passed away from that agent orange shit , not only did they pass away , it affected their kids as well. But again , you guys sound good. I use to play in a few bands when I was younger but never really went anywhere with it , I mainly just play for fun now and have jam sessions with friends. I am a huge Rush fan , Geddy Lee is my idol and by you being a drummer , I am sure you appreciate Neil Peart , whether you are a drummer or not , How could you not lol The guy is amazing. I also like a lot of different music as well , Rush just has always been my favorite.
- 1 y
Sorry to hear about that!
I appreciate Neil but, Bill Bruford's my go to guy! I'm way more into King Crimson than Rush. Simon Phillips is in second place.
I like loads of different music, too. My record collection proves that. Over 62,000 spanning the past 120-some years. - 1 y
That’s awesome , I like records as well , I think the sound quality is so much better than a cd or cassette tape. I like some King Crimson music as well but Rush is still my top. Have you ever listened to Dream Theater? I am a big fan of them as well , they are influenced by Rush, Crimson, Yes , etc. I am happy to hear Mike Portnoy is back with them making their next album. I am looking n forward to it

Yes, vinyl has a warmer sound and it's not all reduced to dots and dashes, like on a CD, it's actual sound waves you're hearing. Vinyl also amplifies the bass, I'm not sure how. But, I made a record myself back in the `90's and I checked the master tape for any flaws and such before I sent it get pressed and considered everything to be clean. I got the test pressings back a few weeks later and there was this loud pop at one point (one of my P's popped) and all 3 copies had that flaw so, I thought it was something bad through the factory and told them about it. They said that vinyl amplifies bass and that pop IS there on the tape! I listened to the tape in that section again and, sure enough, there WAS a pop there but, it was so slight you REALLY had to listen for it to hear it!! But, NOT on the record!! It's loud and clear, there!
Yes, I've heard a couple Dream Theatre tracks. But, around the time I heard of them, I already had at least 50,000 records in my collection and decided to kinda stop buying them unless I REALLY needed them for the collection. When I get into a new band, I tend to look for everything they ever did so, I'm trying not to get into more bands.
The only reason I bought another 12,000 records 2 years ago was because all of mine have been in storage for the past 5 years and I missed having records to "play with" (sift through, look things up on and what have you) so, I bought a few huge lots from e-Bay just so I could do that and then, once I was done, I'd pick out any that I might wanna keep and re-sell the rest. I'm just about to the re-selling part. I've picked out a few thousand that I know I don't want and need to listen to to see if I DO want them. I'm guessing I'll weed out another 50%. - 1 y
Yeah, it helps me remember when things happened in my life. If I can't recall a time, I'll recall the records I just bought or was listening to around that time and it helps me narrow down when something happened. Or, I'll flip through a stack of 45's and each one tends to have a memory attached to it so, as soon as I see it, I remember things that happened when I first heard it, saw it or bought it. It's like looking at a picture album except that it brings back memories that only I know.
2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. What's to NOT like about coffee?
I drink a half of a cup of coffee ☕ and fill the rest of the cup with whole milk, and add two teaspoons of sugar. That's the way I like it.
After I wake up every morning, the first thing I do is make coffee.
I look forward to it warming up my tummy.
It helps me wake up and get on with my day.
It smells delicious while the maker is making it.
That first sip is the best part. Ahh! Coffee☕
Coffee ice cream is one of my long time favorites. It tastes like no other ice cream.
I love my coffee so leave me alone!!13 Reply- 1 y
My grandfather used to put a scoop of ice cream in his coffee.
I don't need anything to wake me up. I got out of bed an hour ago and immediately started doing things I needed to do. I'm still not even dressed. Still haven't gone down for breakfast. Maybe in 2 or 3 hours. I usually don't eat unless I'm hungry.
When I go for tea, it's just a drink! I don't get my panties wet in anticipation, it's just something I feel like drinking to get rid of the milk taste in my mouth or something TO drink with certain meals because root beer just don't make it with those meals and doesn't mix well with them.
I LOVE root beer more than any other kind of pop but, I'll drink just about any other kind if root beer's not available. - 1 y
I recently started buying vanilla hot chocolate!! About TIME they started making that!!

1 yTo me, coffee is kinda big deal. But it’s probably because I am one of those people who visits countries to try their coffee and learn how they perfect their art in those places.
It’s really hard to explain coffee, which is probably why some folks are so passionate about the hobby, that there a contests and events just for coffee lovers.
I will say that authentic coffee connoisseurs probably require a 12 step program if they ever plan to kick the habit. Myself included.00 Reply 1.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. If you don’t know, then trying to explain it to you is pointless. People are different, I get that — so your morning ritual without coffee, & a cup of tea later in the day, I’m sure, suits you well — although it sounds spartan & chase to me.

Other than that, caffeine (most prominent in coffee) is a drug-stimulant and has the potential to develop into a dependency or addiction.

I equate cigarettes with this sci-fi movie called, "The Stuff". Somebody as some kind of mine up in Alaska (I think) sees this white goo oozing up from the ground and decides to taste it. It's delicious so, they decide to package and sell it to the masses as a new kind of yogurt. The people try it, love it and can't get enough of it `til it's ALL they wanna eat! Whatever this stuff is, once you eat it, it takes over your mind and body and makes you want to eat more so it can gain even more control of your body. Just like nicotine and other highly addictive drugs.
The tag line for the movie is, "are you eating it, or is it eating you?"
