He gets convicted for assault for an incident that happened over 30 years ago with no evidence and no witnesses. Just a wacko that could not even remember the year it happened. The whole thing was a show trial and the American public did not fall for it. It only made President Trump more popular than ever.
Even though Trump said that he would not seek revenge next year but he had said nothing about seeing that justice is served. I am sure that the AG that he selects will not be too squeamish to put a senile old man on trial for treason.

A grand jury knows nothing, while a new York Jury mirrors the political dynamics of the city which is all democrat, who would vote to convict him almost regardless of the charge. Which in this case was never defined and therefore could not be proven or disproven.

And grand juries have pretty immense power to subpoena witnesses and evidence before deciding whether to indict or not.

This flaw in the system of having no opposition is why in practice a grand Juries power is really just extending the prosecutors power, and they can be led to indict a ham sandwich.
