They were thin in the 1980s as well and possibly the early 90s. It's around the mid 90s and early 2000 that the obesity crisis really exploded. It will get worse the longer we continue to normalise being obese. Being obese is shameful and the lack of shaming encourages it

That's not propaganda. The average USA woman before 1920 was 120 pounds. The average USA woman today is over 140 pounds, mostly due to obesity from willfully over-eating and willfully having sedentary lifestyles.

MORE people were prolly thinnER bc there wasn't as much shitty food & there was more walking around n shit. But there was definitely still fat people around yeah. people aren't fat just bc of McDonald's and car-depenent cities.

Yes, but I saw just two or three 300-pound kids as a boy. At 5'3",105 pounds and 13 when I began high school, they'd have tried to charge my parents with child neglect were I 2024's equivalent to my Sept.6, 1966 size, about 5'5",120-125 lb.

@beefcakebradybatson there are still very few 300 pound kids. And would you really have been suspected of being abused for weighing 20 pounds more than you did as a 13 yo? That sounds pretty ridiculous I think you're just making that up.

I'm not making it up (well, I don't think I am), but my26-year-old great-nephew said there were four to six obese kids in almost all his classes when he was in high school and a couple in each class when he was in elementary school.

@beefcakebradybatson how many kids in his classes overall? Even six out of a whole class of kids isn't that many. It's a lot more than back in the day, yeah, but it's still a very small percent of kids overall.

His classes likely had twenty to twenty-five kids, so five obese kids would be a quarter to a fifth of the students, though even two obese children would have been eight to ten percent.

I mean kids are MUCH bigger today then 58 years ago, and a 5'3',105-pound kid of 1966 to be the same relative size today would be about 5'5",120-125 lb.

@beefcakebradybatson there was only 25 kids in a whole class? Fuck that's a small school. I dont think that's a big enough sample size to count tbh cuz I rlly don't think ¼of all kids are obese. But if u define obese as being 5'5 & 125 lbs then I can understand why you would think so many kids are, bc that's a normal ass weight that's even on the low end of "healthy."
