Will our proxy war turn into a shooting war between the U. S. and Russia? If it does, will we be able to defeat Russia during the winter?

Question

Russians have adapted to the extreme cold. Americans have not; especially the Blacks and Hispanics comprising 40% of the military. A war between Russian and the U. S. will be decided by our rulers.

To successfully fight Russia, the U. S. will have to bring back the draft. The American people will not approve but it not there choice.

A war with Russia may cost $25 trillion because we are not fighting next door. We will be fighting across the ocean and that required moving troops and equipment by air since Russia submarines, that cannot be detected, would sink our ships. Printing that much money will cause 50% inflation.

Yeah, it's doubtful we would use the draft or ever even put US boots on the ground, at least battalions or companies. Alphabet guys and special forces would be having a field day though. We'd push more proxy wars, like pushing Poland into the fray next, but with better gear and more time to stage an invasion rather than half ass defense with people getting thrown into a meat grinder.

Hell, I thought Russia would bulldoze Ukraine too, but look how long this has been going on by a country fighting with our last generation gear and pressed troops. The only way Russia will escalate is if the oligarchs next to Putin are threatened as well. The longer this drags on the tighter of a noose it becomes around his neck. He has a lot of domestic enemies from consolidating the oil industry and absorbing it into the state. Add onto that his generals fearing him after what happened with his prized mercenaries.

They don't have to win, only he does. Much like we don't have to send troops, just keep dusting off old gear and sending it over to proxy forces. For a cheaper solution we could train insurgent forces to open another front.

Yeah, well, invading Russia didn't work out too well for Napoleon and Hitler, so does anyone think it will work out well for anyone other than perhaps neighboring China? Like how would we supply the troops send on this God-forsaken mission?

We're going to have to pick and choose our battles because if Russia starts pushing and pushing and our government has to be who they are and we get involved with something then I think China's going to try to come to the back door... But there's something definitely going on with those two. And depending on who our president is when this happens because I'm sure it's going to.. most of the time we are the bullies. . But I think nowadays we have some weapons that are so awesome and elite that we will use them and I think China will think twice..
We've already been in war with China in Guam China tried to take over Guam and it was a missile to missile battle they say it will be from satellite to satellite battle the next war because if you take out satellites and communication you're going to kick the other person's ass. Russia has hackers that will hack everything that America has to scramble satellites and scramble communication hopefully we are at to par on all that that we can encounter attack but there's no knowing yet..
Well for us anyway I'm sure that our FBI CIA are intelligence knows more than we do for sure.

But what sucks out of the whole deal is there's going to be a lot of life senseless death and people's life taken from them... This is where it's wrong..

All I know is that there are moments in war where I feel that we act like. Boys just because we want something I hope if there is another war that we have our shit together enough to do whatever we have to do to get in and get out and to just scare the fuck out of everybody and say hey don't fuck with us we will fucking wipe you out and that's what kind of leader we need to project that and then show it in some cases you're going to have to show the power as long as it doesn't get into a nuke or...

Most Russians soldiers have about 3 months of training and are from cities so won't be a problem for us military personnel nor will the cold. In fact the Russian winter will make it easier for us military personnel using thermal optics to take out Russian personel.

The Russian military is very similar to the Iraqi military before the Gulf War. They said before the Gulf War that America would be defeated because Iraq had a larger vetrean army, with a huge tank force and the best soviet fighter aircraft. They said the Iraqis were desert people vetreans of the iran-iraq war and the us army couldn't match them in the desert, in the Gulf War the Iraqi army was completely obliterated and actually got lost in the desert.

Russian subs are outdated and falling apart as is the entire Russian navy.

In an all out conventional war the us military would run out of military targets fairly quickly and the Russian military would become an all infantry force with no tanks, aircraft, artillery to support it in the field.

Not likely this will happen. But if it did cold weather would do very little to slow down the US military. Our soldiers are well supplied and outfitted. It wouldn’t be very uncomfortable deployment but they would be well supplied.

Also about WW2. This is not like Hitler sending entire battalion of his soldiers deep into Russia just to have them under supplied and freezing to death later at the end of the invasion.

Here is an interesting fact about Hitler’s boneheaded idea to invade Russia (he also violated a non-aggression pact he signed with Stalin doing this: very deep betrayal). Hitler was a huge fan of Napoleon and very closely studied his military tactics and strategy. Napoleon’s army was defeated by the Russian cold and yet Hitler made the exact same mistake.

But this is long before advanced technology and transports existed. Very unlikely our soldiers would have this obstacle in modern times.

Anyway neither Russia nor the USA really wants to get in a direct war. Two nuclear backed superpowers going to war isn’t going to end well for both sides.

I just can't see that happening, especially boots on the ground. I doubt any body would want that to happen.

The Europeans are working up to to banning the Russian dark fleet of oil tankers from exiting the Baltic. Russia will have little external revenue after that and China will need to be circumspect in supporting Russia and not incurring secondary sanctions.

Sanctioning Russia back into the stone age is a better strategy. Sanctioning China back into the paddy fields is a better strategy. With the US having oil independence there should not be that much disruption to the US.

I hope not because not going to win a land war in Russia. What is the end of it? Do the subs get involved sinking ships, going nuclear? It's just not viable to fight that way... that's why they have proxies. That's why so dangerous to have long range missiles going deep into russia.

Two thirds of our military are white. Only one third are minorities, and that group includes Alaska natives who certainly can stand the cold. And just being a minority does not stop people from adapting to cold. Russian submarines have become harder to detect, but they still can be detected. Our submarines are just as stealthy as theirs. Much of the killing of ground troops will come from the air which we are quite adept at. Russia prefers to pick on countries that are small and do not have the technology we do. So I doubt a shooting war between us will happen. And if it does, Russia will likely go nuclear and we will respond and earth will be wiped out.

Winter isn't the problem. Late autumn and early spring are. The European end of Russia basically turns into mud then. Mud stopped Napoleon, the Kaiser and Hitler. Any war against Russia needs to go in from the East end, so America should look at going in from Alaska, or alternatively from the air.

Of course, that assumes the Russians aren't a match for the US military.

Someone remind me, how many Russian generals are preoperative trans as opposed to the number in the US forces?

The only way a shooting war would happen if is Putin is dumb enough to attack a NATO country, and he won't do that. He's invaded Georgia & Ukraine twice: neither were NATO countries.

Russia already has a troop deficit thank to their meat attack tactics in Ukraine.

USA wouldn't be fighting the war alone and it wouldn't be restricted to the arctic.
