Congress should expand the resources to help the former President during these uncertain & politically divisive times. This transcends politics, the safety of those giving public service regardless of stance of the individual should be upheld. Secret Service need more resources in order to provide the protection necessary for Trump whether on the campaign trail, enjoying golf in his pass time, whatever & however he chooses to spend his time he should feel safe and be safe.
I’ve been vocally against Donald Trump’s policies as a former Trump supporter, I’ve made that clear though we have to have peace in this country. Political violence is not acceptable and anyone who continues to break the law like this should pay a hefty price!

Update: They gave the resources necessary for not only presidential candidates, but sitting presidents too.

So far two republican gunmen have stepped up but i suspect democrats know what republicans are up to by now and will force republicans to carry Trump to term.

I don’t know what more will do. If anything Biden will end up giving him DEI hired secret service members. That didn’t work out well the first time when a bullet bit into Trump’s ear almost killing him.

Who was Dei hired in the secret service that you know of? Or do you just mean if it's not all white guys then they couldn't possibly have gotten the job on their own merit.
- 16 d
The women. One of which left her post to breast feed her baby. I mean, seriously?
- 16 d
That doesn't make her a dei hire lol. Also the way you say dei hire implies an unqualified person got the job just cause they're not a white male. If you're not aware of that now you are.
Another note. She can be two things. One hired because she was qualified on her own and then one that makes a bad decision and ultimately held accountable for.
Also, if we gave capable and qualified parents more family leave like many other countries do she wouldn't be in the position to break protocols. If she broke a protocol that doesn't mean she is a dei hire. You're calling her that because you hear that on the news which just causes more decisiveness.

I don't even watch the news 🤣

Ah. Makes sense

@ManInChains
That’s one hell of an ear injury if it almost killed him.

@Juxtapose so huge they can't get up and run fast enough to get in front of him or should be be surrounded in a circular human shield 24-7?
Relax man it's not ridiculous. Just saying a woman can be in secret service and not be a dei hire and she can do something to break protocol that gets her fired. - 15 d
@Friendlybro79 I guess you have never basketball players or football players and how quickly they can fucking run?
7.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Secret service is an executive function. My guess is DJT will buy more for public appearances. The SS is criminally negligent.

@Jersey2 Trump has had two near misses. If Iranian operatives (that crossed the southern border) had been on the job, Trump would be in the morgue. If Trump actually asks for money for private security, I'll forego Jim beam and send in the money I would have spent. Jim would understand. Nobody's trying to kill him.

Hopefully, though former Presidents (even Jimmy Carter, who'll be 100 Oct.1 and has been in hospice since last year) have life-long Secret Service protection.

Why, are they expecting a third fake assassination attempt?
01 Reply- Asker16 d
Do read the news: Trump asked for more secret service suggesting that he who got shot at least once, doesn't think it's for shits and giggles.
- Anonymous(36-45)15 d
Nope. I think that the new secret service will try to attack him instead.

Agreed. I didn't vote for him and won't vote for him again but I genuinely don't want him to go without adequate and definitely increased protection going forward. This is something all political ends of the spectrum should agree to. Violence like this is unacceptable.

@Friendlybro79 I always voted for Trump
- 16 d
And he deserves to be adequately protected like all sitting and ex presidents. I hope they allocate more soon. I don't want this to be the norm where people disagree with a political figure and then try to be a crazy person and do things like this. It's wrong
- u16 d
@Friendlybro79 killing is wrong assassination all of it

100%

@Friendlybro79 I think most protectees make some compromises to help ensure they're "adequately protected". Like playing golf on military bases and not on wide open courses next to public roads that anyone can walk on to. They also don't charge the government millions to accommodate the Secret Service to their personal benefit.
But of course assassination and violence have no place in politics. - 15 d

@Friendlybro79 Fair enough.

Biden refused to give RFK Junior any type of Secret Service protection.
This is the most corrupt administration in history. - 15 d
Facts First: Kennedy’s suggestion that he is being treated differently than every other presidential candidate since 1968 is baseless. In reality, the vast majority of candidates in modern presidential primaries never receive Secret Service protection because they are not deemed “major” candidates – and it would be nearly unprecedented for even a major candidate to receive protection this early in a campaign if they did not already have it on account of currently or previously serving in the White House. A CNN review of presidential campaigns dating back to 1980 found that only then-Senator Barack Obama, who faced unique threats as a Black man with a realistic chance to become president, was granted Secret Service protection as early in a campaign as Kennedy is seeking it.
