It depends on the specific issue at hand.

Currently, things are kind of haywire on a social level because reality and facts are just of no consequence to some people. They have all these steadfast principles until the moment they become inconvenient to them, then they completely abandon them.

The Judeo-Christian ethic of: “Thou shalt not kill”…. we know people have a VERRRRRRYYYYYY loose interpretation of that, and all these supposed exceptions. “God bless the troops”, for example, in and of itself is kind of an inherently contradictory statement. The troops exist to kill. Shit, they usually TRAVEL to do it. “It’s ok to go to war and kill, that doesn’t count.” Oh, ok🙄 The whole thing falls apart. It’s either an invalid commandment or we’re sinning any time we kill. These holy rollers love to pick and choose when to be black-and-white and when to be interpretive, as it suits their argument in the moment. Constitutionalists too, and I’d say there’s probably some overlap in the two factions.

Anyway, before I go off on too much of a tangent…. I’m starting to think people are more A-moral than IM-moral. There’s some underlying immorality involved for sure, but I think it comes via an inability to think critically and discern valid information from the invalid, especially as it relates to confirmation bias.

I think the psychology of it all gets lost in the accusatory and defensive nature of both sides of it, and it just becomes an offense taken or given. But if you just look at it without anyone being rude, in a vacuum, a great deal of our citizens have just been sold an idea of a dysfunctional, dystopian America that’s so much worse than what’s really going on. And if they don’t see it, they have specific news channels that amplify any bad story and frame it like “…. iS yOuR tOwN nExT?”😱😱😱

Or they completely mischaracterize any and all current events to fit some narrative they’re building. “TrUmP wAs ShOt BeCaUsE oF ViOLeNt LeFtiSt rHeToRiC aNd dEi At ThE sEcReT sErViCe!!!”🤪 It’s LOL-laughable on it’s face, or should be, but alas, hasn’t become apparent to tens of millions of people who either can’t or don’t want to see it.

But I think there does need to be some baseline immorality that exists in a person to fundamentally be able to believe such apparent bullshit, to have that underlying unconscious bias to need to be confirmed or assuaged in the first place.

I’d just say the more obvious amorality is what irritates me the most. The “special pleading” (tried to put a Wikipedia link but I think GAG won’t allow it, lmao) in every argument. Any presentation of disqualifying facts is reflexively dismissed as fraudulent, nefarious attempts to discredit them or the cult’s leadership and mission. They’ve willfully deluded themselves to believe that all this opposition comes, not because the leadership and mission of the cult are just THAT bad, but rather because they’re so GOOD…so good and awesome and powerful and full of benevolent actions to come that all the BAD people are scared and will stop at nothing to prevent this Utopia that we all should want and they’re just trying to give to us.

Unfortunately, reality tends to fly in the face of that. Fortunately for them, they never let that get in the way of a good excuse, and they are logically bound by absolutely nothing in their arguments...

I've had debates with plenty of kind and intelligent people with opposing views. Just because I think they're wrong and delusional in some instances, doesn't necessarily make them immoral. It can be irritating when it comes to specific topics that you hold dear to your heart, but when it comes to morality, it's sometimes hard to paint everything in black and white.

If people were born at a different period in time or in a different part of the world with different circumstances, their views might be very different than they are now. I think that's something we sometimes need to be reminded of when getting into arguments with others. Most of the time in those scenarios, emotions run high and it's hard to see from that perspective.

No, they just have a different point of view to what I have. But if they are pushed to the point that they wish or will do physical harm to some one who is politically opposed to them, then that is another thing all together and the y should be in a mental care facility.

No, unless they have a "the ends justify the means" attitude I do not. If your political "solution" to fixing our disagreements in society require executions or gulags/camps I will judge you as highly immoral, however.

On certain things. In general no. If we disagree on the size or scope of and federal agency I don't think that's a moral issue. I think they don't realize the implications of their statements or policies. Their policy proposals I do think will have evil outcomes.

No, it's none of my business what their political views are just like it's none of their business what my political views are, if they are mature enough to respect my political views, then I will respect their views. Demonizing differing political views is why politics has become so toxic and nothing in government ever gets, we're to hyper focused on views we disagree with, that we'll never be able fix issues we agree on.

Immoral? No. Just zealous advocates for the wrong things. Morality, despite what anyone tells you, is subjective.

No. Because I'm sophisticated enough to hold two or more opposing views at the same time, and accept that others often have different views and conclusion to my own.

There were 4 cops that supposedly committed suicide because they could not live with what they saw that day. It must have been horrific to see a guy in a fur jacket wearing horns on his head and a guy putting his feet up on Pelosi's desk. It is more likely that the democrats killed them because they were going to tell what really happened on that day.

No, there was another guy that supposedly murdered by the Jan6th protesters. His autopsy showed he died from a blood clot. The democrat party killed those who were not on board with the coverup.
