When danger strikes instead of running away from it or helping or being a hero dummies nowadays breakout their phones to post about it instead.

It’s isn’t a crime if you refuse to help someone in danger but if you decide to post about it instead that should be a crime. Everyone in life needs a hero & if you can be a hero or Good Samaritan & do it safely or somewhat safely that is the way to go.

Not a crime but it is a shame that people won’t help those in need…. I understand if it puts their life in danger but often it is easier to say someone else will help them, or if I wasn’t in such a hurry….

Helping out someone in danger, however, isn't exactly encouraged either, and it's kind of obvious but why. If there's a burning building in front of you with a few people still stuck inside, most people who managed to escape alive would probably just stand there waiting for the fire department to come instead of jumping in that very same fire, because they don't wanna get burned.

But that doesn't mean you SHOULDN'T help someone on danger, if you can. If you're physically abled, you know you'll be fine, and you have it all worked out, you won't just save someone else's life and possibly gain a few fans and be labelled as a hero, but you'll also feel a sense of true accomplishment and pride at your own feats.

Three years ago, when I saved a friend of mine from almost drowning at the beach because she decided to walk out into the deep end during the high tide, even though she didn't know how to swim, I made no hesitation to dive in after her and carry her back out. I was physically bigger and stronger than her (I'm 5'11 and decently cut, while she was 5'2 and petite), and I'm an expert swimmer. Even though I don't really brag about it to anyone but all of our friends definitely did start seeing me in a different light since then.

I have put my own life at risk doing that. I interfered with a physically abusive asshole hurting a girl in his car, in a parking lot. I was in the Sheriffs Academy at the time and did not get out of my vehicle with a weapon or my baton... and that was foolish, as the A-hole got out ready to fight. In retrospect, I should have identified myself as "police'. and confronted with my duty weapon or baton... Could have gotten myself killed by confronting bare handed.

This asshole was 6 foot square.

It depends on the country’s specific laws, but we have laws that you are obligated to help  within reason.  Nobody can ask from you to run into a burning house, but if you see a fire and don’t call the fire brigade, a judge will sentence you for failure to render assistance.

As I understand UK law, providing you can help them without overly endangering your own life or others then it's a crime not to help. However that help could just be calling for help.

First, you need to ensure your own safety. There are other services responsible for saving others at the cost of their health, and sometimes even their lives, but not civilians.

Depends on the laws of that region/country, the danger and the help. Not rushing into a burning building wouldn't be a crime, but not calling the firedepartment would.

Here you get punished if you dont help someone who is in danger. But helping him/her can't put you in a harm's way.

It depends. If you are operating a boat, you are legally required to help others in distress. I have done this quite a few times.
