The world does not exist for any of us, what exists is a perception of the world based on not enough elements to look at, or based on a specific bias. Therefore we can't evaluate the world to determine if it is fucked up. What is fucked up is our perception when we confuse our perception with a tool to look at reality, at truth.
The world is bigger than what you as a single person can experience at any one time. That means that a lot of good things and bad things happens without you knowing. If, lets say news organizations earns more money by showing you "bad" content then your experience of the world will be filled with more bad content then actually exist on average.
The opposite can also be true if you choose to only experience the good parts by the way, just a suggestion if you want to live a more peaceful life.
Of course, your personal experience does not change what is actually going on. The world could improve or get worse and you would likely not notice any major differences. Its a big place after all. That said, the world is actually getting better over time. Less violence, less crime, less starving people etc.. Ever since we have had recorded history this has always been true. As humanity continues to develop we will continue to build a better future, it just does not feel like it if you constantly get bombarded by bad news every day.
It's just the economy that is in a difficult spot atm but I'm not worried. The world will continue just as it was. If a chid is born now they'll have the same joy and excitement that we had as kids. A few things will be different like having a phone and things like that but in general the world stays the same. It's just our perspective that changes and the media that we consume and stuff. I don't think fundamentally the world has gotten better or worse in the last 30 years. Economically a lot of chickens are coming home to roost sooner or later but that will pass as well.
For my children's sake, I hope not, but if it is, it's because of another rise of fascism and wilful ignorance brought on by its propaganda. We fixed the ozone layer by accepting facts and working together. Ditto, on a smaller scale, acid rain. Now, half the population in countries that are in a position to do something about it have been convinced global warming isn't happening.
The world has always been fucked. It only seems that way now because the people we have trusted in governing us is doing a terrible job ensuring that the society that protects us from the world's fuckery is stable.
However the world could always do with worldwide socialism yet that's a daydream I guess - people only vote for capitalism across the world, sigh. Anyways vote on vote on lol
