What is it like in your country? The USA, although still a great place to be for many... has some serious financial issues ahead...

13.5% of americans were food insecure in 2023... inspite of wasting 60 million tons of food

And yet when immigrants show up, they get free rooms, free food, free healthcare... because we care.

Yea, were in need of some serious revival and reform.

Didn't you previously say how USA is prosperous, where prosperity and humanitarian deeds go unseen?

Anyway.

Germany. Where i live i rarely see beggars and if i see any, they are not the aggressive types at least. Although where i live housing is in very short supply. I am lucky to live where i live.

The homeless one's here are mostly voluntarily homeless. So we've been made aware of.

The best thing we have is universal healthcare. No one has any excuse to remain in a medical condition for too long unless all medics are overbooked, which most of them already are.

I too live almost like paycheck to paycheck but that is because i keep depositing the money i would have otherwise spent on socializing, dating, gym or expensive hobbies into my broker and "gamble" to make profits or losses.

they country has been dividing into the haves and the have nots. I think the real issue is people making bad decisions, bad financial decisions. some of it is misfortune. for the young, it's harder to get started due to high cost. But yes, I see people getting jobs and high paying ones... when they have the skills. I see people running businesses and doing well.
I suspect the real issue is... they don't know how to live within their means, manage their $. $ goes so fast...

ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY!! Big reforms are desperately needed but will never occur because we need a constitutional convention to really address the root causes of a lot of problems. Unfortunately, having a constitutional convention prior to having massive electoral rule changes - beginning with public campaign finance, ban gerrymandering, limited campaign time, election day as a national holiday, free passports to to all citizens as a voter ID, every state having the ability to have initiatives, propositions and referendums, address the status of Washington DC and Puerto Rico. All of these preliminaries are necessary to prevent corporate interest from buying what they want at a constitutional convention. Just the same I'm terrified of what kind of partisans would be thrown up by state legislatures since they control the selection process (Congress must call a convention IF two-thirds of state legislatures request one, but it does NOT specify how delegates would be chosen).

America is still the best country on earth. We are in a slump but I hope things turn around next year.
