First you shouldn't think he himself has done the engineering of electric vehicles or of towers that can catch spent rocket boosters. But he has at the least been willing to finance wild assed ideas and presumably been canny enough to anticipate which wild assed ideas can be made to work.
The later is a pretty unique talent.
I would not support all of Elon's politics. I do think he should stay out of geopol and it is just not his place to meddle in the Russian war or contradict his gov't.
On the broad sweep on how a society should run - particularly on censorship - I would support or at least think those viewpoints need to be considered. A lot of his thoughts are not particularly original.
Overall he has made some good technical calls but you can't consider him a font of wisdom.
A lot of the time it comes down to value judgement. Real politik gives one answer - might is right. Freedom gives you another. I don't see Elon's value judgement being inherently more valuable than yours or mine or that of the collective.
He is not the genius that people claim him to be. He was first with paypal and then he used his rich moms money to buy tesla and took the former owners blueprints to create new vehicles and did well off of the formers work, but after that he hasn't proved himself to be reliable. For example he promised to create the high-speed rail using a pneumatic tube which is a really old and outdate technology and was obvious not going to work. He took public money and then just abandoned the project. His Cybertruck was a big flop.
I remember 8 years ago he was talking his self-driving car everyone thought it was the future and it's over for drivers and truck drivers and the technology still sucks and most people are still driving cars with a human because AI is not reliable at all.
Him and his mom earlier this year were complaining to the government to give Elon Musk more government subsidy's to pay for his space project. Honestly I think he is mostly full shit. He's good at taking from the government or using other people's work, but he can't really come up with anything himself. A successful business man sure, but he got there off his mothers success and connections if he was an average guy who wasn't born with a rich mom he would be working a low-wage job.
No wonder he loves trump the could be kissing cousins, both are actually nothing but shit with each getting their wealth from a relative. Now they want to become the brain trusts of USA. I just wonder if musk is a pedophile like trump is!

I like him overall, I havven't studied his ideas on policy. I have some crazy policies as well. He did well in his town hall on his own. He is not a politician. I consider him a huge asset to the country and to Trumps cabinet.
If he could find a way to even cut a few billions out of the govt waste, that be amazing...

A brilliant man who apples his intelligence to real problems of economics in innovation unlike far too many brilliant academics. As a result he hires great people and drives them to gets a lot of things done, and runs very successful companies.
I grew up around many of the smartest people in the world, i think many would rival Musk if only they had applied their intelligence to the real problems of economics.
He has made me a lot of money so my view on him might be biased. But i think he is very smart and logical. Nowadays people are more emotional instead of logical. So some of the things he says might be sound rude, but those things are probably true. Because truth is often times ugly.
